Is tea good for GSD? I give tea to my GSD every day.

have'nt seen or heard this before.... if he's still alive and healthy, it must be good or rather harmless. Does he drink water?

by GSDrcool on 15 December 2004 - 17:12

If i were not sure of the benfits or harm, I would'nt be offering tea to my dogs

I belong to a tea drinking family. When I tried giving them tea it enhances there apetite ofcourse coupled with exercise. That is why I am asking if it will not harm them? Combination boiled green and black tea. I deluted it with water to spoil the bitter taste. They like it.

greyhound owners often give a little wine or beer to their dogs after the track. It tends to soothe their nerves I'm assuning black tea also has some similar affect. But you are better off consulting a canine nutritionist on the exact affects

We had a greyhound who overran himself during training. He was sent back home to us right after it happened. Our vet told us to give him beer which acts as a diuretic to flush the lactic acid from the muscles and aspirin or tylenol which will relieve the pain and allow him to move around. When we got him home from the trainers, he could hardly get up and down. After following this course of treatment over a period of time the dog fully recovered. Keep in mind that dogs at the track are drug tested so they probably are not given this treatment except for certain situations.

i don't see how giving your dog a good quailty herbal tea could do anything but good to the dog,in moderation .....teas like mints chamomile, for soothing effects, ginger and mint for aiding digestion, ginseng for energy and stamina..if it isn't good for you it isn't good for your dog....jade

oops....evertime I refresh my page , my last post gets repeated. Interesting discussion. Honestly, I did not know if it was appropriate to offer tea to dogs. I have tried beer with my boxer but he shies away from it when it frothing. He likes flat beer.
