These are the parents to my Black Sable. The Dam is a Black Sable and the Sire is a Red Sable. Easy to see side by side.

Here is my boy Rookie, he is what I would consider a black sable.  His dam was a sable dominant producer, bred to a solid black male.  The whole litter was VERY dark,  but only a 2 are what I would consider a black sable.  Rookie being one of them.

These stacked picture was taken the day after he turned 2 yrs old.  The headshot was taken,  at 2yrs 3mo.

Here are the 3 sables that we have....

This is Xena..she is my Czech/WG workingline female. She is 2 years old. I  consider her a black sable.

This is Brix....she is my DDR female. I also consider her a black sable. She is a little over 2 years old.

This is TJ...he is DDR/showline...he is my boyfriends dog.  TJ is 4 years old. I consider him a red sable.

Having never bred Dogs, How soon when a Pup is born can you say for sure what colour it will turn out

i.e Sable, Light Sable , Red Sable or Black Sable

But as the colour has to do on the pedigree it may be possible to put just Sable, wirhout and definition of the pigement colour of Sable

Would this be correct, because my Pup coming Christmas is supposed to be a Black Sable

Steve
