mirasmom....

Yep that is the DDR/showline cross...TJ is the best of both worlds. He has the nice rich color from the showline and the drives and build of the DDR...he also likes to jump for the bite during protection...that is typical DDR...they are springy....here is an example...this was him going from hold and bark to the reattack...not bad for a 94 pound male...

Here is one more of him and Phil, his owner, in Reno Nevada in the snow.....this really shows his RED sable coloring....

You are right, Brix is related to your Theo. I cant beleive how dark Brix has gotten lately...she is really looking good now.  We did get 3 of our 4 dogs from Kim....TJ and his half brother Aiko, my showline male, have the same sire. Who was my first German Shepherd, a showline male. I got Brix from Kim also...she is the full sister to Kims dog Rookie, who is pictured above.

Xena who is my Czech/WG workingline female I got from a breeder in Willits. She is a great dog.....typical Czech, she is a bundle of drive.

Here are a few pictures of our show line RED sable boy.  His undercoat is red but as a young puppy his coat had various shades of grey and brown in it but always maintained the red markings like a black and red puppy.

Here are some photos of our female RED show line sable girl growing up.  She is the 1/2 sister to our male in the above entry.  The both have the same sable father but both have different black and red mothers.

Steve if they are on your computer you dont have to photobucket them.  There is a square box where you post the message, that has a mountain and a sun on it, click on that,  then click on the box that says UPLOAD, then browse and you will be able to browse your own computer.  YOu will have to save your picture into a folder, and not just one email.

good luck.

I am not computer savvy, but I click on the box that has a mountain and sun, then in the box at the top it says Image info, link, Upload.  I click on upload and from there I click on browse, and find the folder I want to search for the picture I want.  Hope this helps,  the picture might have to be JPG format?

Or worse case, email them to me.

Would call this a dark Red Sable...   V Metin vom Stadtfeld

would consider this a black sable...V Olek von der Maineiche

Would consider this a red sable Ch.Rohan's Reaction, ROM

I've heard the light sable, or dilute sable refered to as a grey sable... though I think it fits much more descriptively on the steelgrey sable such as in the first picture of the post.  Just like I've heard the TV Rin Tin Tin refered to as a "silver" shepherd when in fact he's a faded saddle black and tan. Too many people clicking boxes on the registration slips without really knowing or having seen dogs of the various colors or subcolors.  Last Shepherd I registered was a red sable, but the box on the registration just says "sable" so could have meant a LARGE range of sable shadeings.  Peri was a Reaction Son, with a really black face and heavier shading thruout, but he was still a red sable.

BTW anyone know more about Olek, plus and minus... and who might have progeny or grandkids here in the US? No I wouldn't buy from a photo, but he's interesting....

I have one dog, Kessy vom Waldwinkel, that I would consider a dark/red sable...
This picture is a little weird, it's her just as she was taking off for a bite.  But it shows her color very nicely.

I've seen lots of very red dogs coming from her grandsire, Manto.

She was also clearly red as a puppy:
