Ther is a great deal of specifics lacking here.
For our dogs to remain strong we(as working dog enthusiasts) need to ensure that the working ability remains. Certanly stucture is important but would ot not make more sense to be able to show a dog that can work under all conditions.
The reason I asked about the RH (search and rescue) championships is because they are a little less known and I do not believ are breedable titles. Stucture in this arena really should not be a factor, If an avalanche recovery dog saves your child does how it looks really effect wheter it should be certified for work?
Anyhow I am not insulting any lines here. I have owned both working and show lines at different times of my life but they all worked. They enjoyed the work and it kept them young. To me the biggest shame is deny our dogs what they were meant to do.
Ideas to improve our breed are always important but I just don't think enough of thought was put into this.

Misbeeb who said she was mauled by a pitbull? She saved my life and fought the pitbull till he ran away! She did something that your dogs are not capable of doing!

I believe that it is about time the whole world that love the GSD start to all agree on one type of test and breed standard which should be what the first breeder and true founder of the GSD Captain Max Emile Frederic Von Stephanitz devoloped.
I keep on reading on views of breeders and others what the breed standard should be WHY there was and is already from the start a set standard so why change.I read and Quote (I am beginning to think some in the working GSD side lack ambition and the determination to DEVELOP the IDEAL GSD) what on earth does this statement mean why do we need to develop the ideal GSD when we had already had the ideal GSD devoloped, this is what seems to be happing to this great breed to many trying to make changes.

pupwalker, you are right. The German standard should be the only one and the SV could and should imo, help by finding common ground re: hip & elbow scores. It's ridiculous to have different systems that work... but the SV won't recognise them! How difficult can it be?
I hope we (UK) will get rid of our KC but the alternatives are not without their problems... not everything German, is good imo.

Bancroft, just for you, Srathclyde Police have made an urgent appeal for donation dogs, since you are in this line of work this should be easy for you to check out. You get your dog division to ask thier dog division, easy peasy. liz
