With 30+ years involvement with the GSD, significant and international involvement, I may add. I have no inhibitions whatsoever in making well thought out proposals that I am convinced will help the future of the German Shepherd Dog.

KCzaja is clearly on your level reason, it's not surprising his and some of the other simplistic GSD sound bites appeal to you.

this is a very bad idea.conformation is what messed up the breed in so many ways.with all the good angulation and movement and structure what work do these dogs do.aren't showline dogs are bread for confirmation and how does it benefit them.confirmation bad ruiens breeds.have a nice one.

Quote: I have NOT suggested any reduction in the working ability - I have simply and seriously suggested an improvement in their conformation standard.

Please tell us exactly what you have in mind. Maybe some examples of ugly working dogs that are out there.

I understand that you are a Sch person, but the GSD should not be limited to just that. I have seen a couple of show type dogs, and their structure kills them in the jumps. They have the heart, but their bodies take away any chance of doing ring.

I look at the roached backs, and weird ass ends of these dogs with their sickle hocks and the rediculously narrow chests and wonder what it is you are thinking here.

So, examples would be good, before I try and tear your house down around you. LOL

I think some people switch into defense lol.
As I understand the proposal you get just few extra points for conformation, I don't find this harmful in any way.

But than if the dog is V rated already isn't that recognised already? hmmm so what is the piont of giveing points for it? Just something to think about. There are quite few V rated working dog's I would say a larger number than Schowline on national level in working trail wouldn't you agree? So you trying to fix something that is not realy broken, while your sugestion for Showline was to remover alstaion.... I think Showline need more fixing than work lines. How about start on the bottom and working your way up and not the other way around?

Like I said I am not against giveing few extra points to worklines for conformation, but I don't realy see a difference between what is done now.

I suggest it is introduced in 2010 as a simple recorded conformation grade, without any points, in order to impress the correct conformation standard required. The National Breed Warden for each country, for example in Germany Herr Reinhardt Meyer, or his nominated deputy should fulfil this task. This simple recorded conformation grading should also be done in 2011 and 20012 and 2013.

In the year 2014, POINTS should be awards to each grade, starting with a low points scale for 2014, and raising the points scale progressively over future years until it reaches a satisfactory level of influence on conformation.

I would suggest the following points scale for 2014:
Grade V - 15 points, Grade SG = 10 points, Grade G = 5 points, Grade U = 0 points.
This suggested point's scale could be retained for 3 years, and then increased. It should be routinely monitored.

Is this some sort of ploy to give show line dogs a chance in the work? All I can say is wow. I'm sure the rebuttle is "we are trying to bring the 2 back together" or some crap. Nice way to FORCE structure on people. There is already a show rating, why not leave it at that, unless you show liners want to be kicked out or not judged when your dog doesn't engage.

Yup you know that is what will happen. I would love to see a working trail where showline compeets against workline lol. I am surre it would be quite interesting to watch.
