Fokwulfe Kennels

by Fokwulfe Kennels on 25 May 2005 - 19:05

Hi, I think that your deposit should have been returned no questions asked. You had put a deposit on a puppy with a chosen pedigree, and that puppy was never born. I also wanted to share how I take deposits, because I feel it is necessary to accept deposits. First I would never take a deposit for a puppy that has not been born yet. I take deposits when the puppies are one month old. That way no one is promised a pup that would not be available. Now clients are well informed about the litters here from day one, But I do not know what I have to sell until they are one month old. Hope this helps in some way. Respectfully, Carl Morgan www.Fokwulfe.com

Haven't you tired yet of your shameless self promotion? Do you honestly believe that people are ignorant enough to not see through what you do? BUYERS BEWARE!!!

Hey hunter, was your comment directed to me?

First off---- no money should be paid for any "future" pup. Dahhhh. And unless you have developed a comfortable relationship with the breeder/owner I wouldn't give any money for any pup until I personally saw the litter.

I don't think I deserved a "DAHHH" on this..it happens all the time..it is hard to find a breeder who won't take deposits until the litter is born...I was very happy with the past "progeny" of the first pairing and wanted one of the pups...I had been talking with this breeder for 6 months before...and others...very few didn't take deposits..and the ones that I found that didn't wanted more than I was willing to spend.. If only I was as smart as you...spaetzle... It's all about trust and which breeder can b.s. you best...she was good...I'm not the only one from that litter that wasn't happy...

I've put down a deposit on every dog I've ever purchased including my 2 GSD's. When I was breeding, I required a deposit to hold a puppy for a buyer. Most every dog breeder I know asks for a deposit. There's nothing unethical about asking for a deposit on a dog; however it is unethical to not provide the buyer with a puppy from the same sire and dam they reserved. If I were Brandoggy, I too would be furious. Cheating buyers seems to be a game with many GSD breeders.

I would expect your deposit to be returned, if the deposit were put on a specific male/female combination. I would understand if the breeder told you what had happened, and offered you a pup from the litter with the other male - but if you refused, then deposit should be returned immediately. The deposits I take on puppies are not refundable in most instances - if "the" pup that the deposit is put on isn't produced for some reason (buyer wants a male and there are no males in the litter or etc), then the buyer is informed, and the deposit is then moved to the next available AND APPROVED BY THE BUYER litter. If the buyer had his heart set on that exact litter because of the specific bloodline or sire or dam, then I would return the deposit on request. molly

Thank you for all of your support, I'll see what I can do from here on out...just wanted to make sure I had a leg to stand on!!

Brandoggy that's unethical! I bought my first GSD and put down a $100 dep. but had already seen the pups. My 2nd one I went into a co-ownership with so didn't have to worry there. I definately would think you have every right to get your money back!! If you don't mind me asking what is this breeders name i certainly do not want to do business with someone like this. ownedbyagsd.
