Kougar-no this is my fourth GSD, I've also had a GSD/Dobie mix. No I have not trained, trialed, shown or bred my dogs. I just loved them, seriously and passionately. There's no dog like them. I came to this site to learn about SV after being urged to show this dog by numerous people, first and foremost his Vet. While looking for info I keep coming on trash talk about the kennel he's from. Maybe it doesn't conform to the standards of the SV but it isn't bad. There's probably more people like me who are/were unaware of SV requirements than you who are aware. Thank God there is a kennel like this one with well bred dogs that are well taken care of breeding good tempered GSD's that will most likely end up as loved family pets in our communities. As I stated in an earlier post his Vet cautioned me about temperment problems that are becoming common in the breed. She is quite impressed with his temperment. I've looked for info on GSD rescue in western PA, all I've ever been able to find so far are ones in VA, Maryland and eastern PA. When I've looked on pet finder there's rarely a GSD listed close (Allegheny County). Anyway I really did come to this site in the hopes of learning the titling process and how to find out if my boy has it in him. All I've learned is that you can't tell what you know to be the truth without being attacked here, and that I might have the best dog ever but he'll never be given a chance.

Wow! Who knew the world of GSD's was so full of nasty, mean spirited and immature people. So sad for the dogs. Instead of a puppy contract maybe the GSD's should have an "Owner Contract" so they can be assured of having an owner with as much class, integrity and honesty that they have. Every time I come here and read posts it makes me more discouraged about the lack of kindness in the human race. Reminds me of the saying "Dogs have many friends because they wag their tails instead of their tongues".

Hi Kougar, your posts are excellent, as usual. But in this case, your time and effort is wasted. Oaken is either Sheplovr aka Wildthing or a very close friend or family member. That screenname was created to take some heat off poor Sheplovr (puppy mill, etc.). How am I so sure about that? I can just say two words (dead giveaway): King Tut!!! Charlie knows what I am hinting at. Hope to see you before NASS. Take care, Chris

King Tut / Police Dog Herbert Hoover this is the only reference I have been able to find!

King Tut was the nickname Wildthing gave to Charlie. That was right around the time he was also known as the queer of Blitzen when I was thought to be Blitzenstein, the competitive GSD breeder. Chris has a great memory. I think Charlie is in rehab LOL.

GSDNewbie, sorry for keeping you waiting but I was too tired and went to bed. Blitzen, you are right. Don't you think that is more than just coincidence? While I think that more than one person writes (or used to write) under Wildthing and Sheplovr - just look at the different style in articulation, I find it very strange that Oaken has to mention King Tut. Thanks for the compliment on my memory. I am sure Joe disagrees when I race through the house again trying to find keys and such. Charlie, can I bow to you too, please? I will be in Pittsburgh. Now, I don't know what possessed me to get involved. I usually just sit back and have fun reading. Better than watching soaps. Take care guys, Chris

I thought the same thing about the use of King Tut, Chris. I wonder if we should call Charlie King Tut or Tut or just King? I'm sure he'll let us know. See you in October.

Bare in mind, there are many people, who's dogs have OFA, but they opted not to have them advertised. So...an assumption by someone, who thinks they're researching other people's dogs, is flawed. Be very careful you don't put other people's dogs or kennels down, because you don't see their dog/s listed. Before one criticises a dog/ or a kennel, check with the parties involve instead of going behind their backs. It cracks me up when some people really think they're researching when, in fact, they're digging for dirt.

DH wrote: (thought this interesting, because so many people these days repeat the same thing) DH, I'm using your statement as an example not a criticis of you - "Take the sleeve away and many dogs will not work any longer. Take them off the training grounds, and many dogs will not work any longer. Take out a sleeve and the dog is all there. Even when the sleeve is laying on the ground. In higher competitions you need more of an edge, something the level you would be training at will never have to concern you." Interesting: But....the phylosophy behind earning a Schutzhund title is not sport dog training, titling or competition. It's a test for BREED WORTHYNES. In the 60's, if a dog was sleeve orinated or sleeve crazy (and did NOT forcus on the agitator) the dog was not considered as a brave and worthy guardian...all necessary requirements which define what a GSD is all about.
