Wow, you completely missed the wrench analogy; didn't you?  A 33mm wrench is a 33mm wrench because everyone agrees on the standard definition of a millimeter.  "Free will" doesn't give you license to use some other measurement and still call it a millimeter.

And by the way, I am buying a dog from an American breeder but one who adheres to the SV methodolgy for proving the breedworthiness of his stock and its adherence to the FCI standard.

"I am not saying that an over-sized or undersized dog is right or wrong. I am saying it is not your right , nor mine to decide what people see threw there eyes as "Near Perfection" "

Oh, dear.

The Standard of a Breed decides what is right and what is wrong.  If breeds didn't have standards, there wouldn't even BE breeds.  So it's perfectly legit for someone to say that a dog that is over or under the standard size, or has any other standard disqualifying fault, to be "wrong" for that breed.  And if people are ignoring the standard when they breed, THAT is just plain wrong. "threw there eyes" indeed.

This argument only ever goes in circles. I'm done with it. If someone thinks its ok to breed black and tan lazy dogs with pointy ears that can't do anything the GSD was intended to do and are a mockery of the breed, fine. People who don't believe in keeping the GSD a working dog don't deserve to own one anyway and wouldn't know what to do with it.

FYI- yorkies are terriers, and a good one is still damn fine ratter, yet they are in the "toy" group. So of course, we should all heed the word of the AKC, as they are the foremost world authority on dogs, their well being and maintaining quality in EVERY dog registered with them.....right?

Yeah, it reminds me of when I first found this site, armed solely with my copy of the AKC Official breeds  book. Oh, boy those sure were days of revelations. LOL

We all had  those "days of revelations," Beetree. Some when they came to this board, others when they first ventured into the German-style realm.  Either way, it was an educational experience.   Thankfully, the learning experience continues for most of us.

When you look at the standard I am not sure they fit any standard. They are huge dogs that are not very pleasant looking in my eyes.I still can't get over the body types and those narrow pencil heads and long pointy ears.  I am not into any German line show dogs but they at least are very pleasing to the eye and have pigment. with nice large heads

But, Wrestleman (insert whining tone here), those large bodies and deep chests and little pointy heads are simply perfect.
