Why, Bob? Because the guy came to him looking for a strong dog to work in Schutzhund. He claimed to have experience (which he did- with other GSDs) and wanted a dog he could compete with. But then you know how the story goes; wifey gets pregnant, demands that he quit training, dog ends up being an annoying pet, and now here we are. Best laid plans and all that jazz.

One more question, why didn't the breeder take this dog back?  Wasn't he concerned at all that the dog was kicked out of the house because of shedding (and wasn't he aware of this problem before he sold the people a dog that would obviously shed?) - didn't he care that the dog was being boarded, and that the owner wanted to get rid of the dog, could have been considering bringing the dog to the pound?  Was the breeder notified?

Ray, I didn't ask for advice on the dog. I asked what would be a fair price in this situation. You get labeled because you act like a wackjob. I breed dogs. Shoot me. Call PETA and tell them what a terrible person I am.

We all know how I churn out shitty puppy after shitty puppy and sell them to any old home just to make a quick buck. Been at it for years. Got a regular fortune built up!

If you need a loan to afford your meds, let me know. I'm always willing to help a creature in need. If not, get off my back.

Jenn, I did misunderstand the guilt part. There are still a few red flags flying, IMO   The rushing part, is always one. And how does an experienced GSD Schutzhund competitor end up with an annoying pet, wife being pregger's or not? And agreeing with what Molly said could be number two.

Usually someone in the above scenario is just interested in finding the dog a good home, not making back some bucks, IMHO.
Why you couldn't pay to get the hips x-rayed as a condition to purchase is beyond me. If the dog passes, you pay the full $500, if it fails you deduct the cost. That seems more than fair to me.

Molly, I said somewhere in this way too long thread that he's the one that put me in touch with the owner. As far as the shedding thing, we all know that's a lame excuse for not being able to handle the dog. Now that they're having more babies, the dog has to go, says the hormonal wife, lol. I guess we should all stop selling puppies to anyone of childbearing age, LOL. I hate how you hear this story over and over. It never occurred to me to get rid of my dogs when I got pregnant.

Anyway, the guy called him asking for advice and the breeder said he'd take her back, and then the owner said he wasn't sure what he wanted to do. Breeder called me thinking that the guy will probably end up selling the dog to someone else, so he called me thinking if I was interested in her, I may be able to persuade the owner to sell her to me. Not much a breeder can do if the owner says they won't send the dog back. The breeder and I are good friends and he thought she'd be a good addition for me rather than a puppy from the same cross (which he would've made money on).

And that's basically it until I get her. I will post her pic and pedigree when she's on my property. Until then, I don't want to jinx it!

Ok Jenn !!! Was it not you who said "if this works out I will make out like a bandit" I made a few logical statements and get castigated for posting them! the situation you were in or are in is one of your own choosing! I simply read the opening post and voiced a legitimate concern1 You stumbled upon a dog owner in distress and immediately saw dollar signs ! Now Jenn tell us how you were gonna make out like a bandit? None of my concern really! so the dog does not film good ? do you keep it or shuffle it off to buffalo!  I am oblivious to the typse or quality of pups you produce! I am confident that you are an impeccable breeder! My concern is for the animal in question ! your plans are to breed it and thats OK ! If those plans go south what becomes of the dog?  and my meds are no concern of yours! I actually think the owners should have paid you for the expenses  acquired in taking the dog!  They would have had to pay the shelter ?right?  Jenn you are the one who proclaimed the enourmous proffitt  you saw in obtaining the dog! I am only sad that the dog would have been shuffled off to buffalo if those profitts were not realized? so who is crueler ? the original owners who could not keep the dog because of newborn children or the profitteer  who finds no profitt and gets rid of the dog??

Jenni:

I hope the dog works out well for you, and the ofa,s are normal.

Why do people keep commenting when they don't READ the WHOLE thread first? Fucking annoying!

Ray you continue to start shit wherever you go. Do you have all of your teeth by chance? Why would anyone want to pay more for anything, than they have to? Not very smart business sense but we all all know you have NO sense so...

Sorry just a hormonal reaction from a crazy pregnant lady, that doesn't get rid of her dogs, to make room for baby. Seriously people, read the full thread and think about what your typing before hand.
