What's your preference during protection work and why,a harness,a pinch or a flat collar?

Mine wear a 2" agitation collar, choke and pinch. The choke and pinch are connected to the same training tab as a backup safety measure, though my dog takes correction with just the agitation collar and voice.

I personally do not like the harness. It is combersome and my dog absolutey despises it, even though it would mean bitework.

We went to the harness because my girl would choke herself even on a wide flat leather collar.  She dives into the harness now knowing she gets to do bitework or tracking in it.  I would never use a pinch because then the dog is being punished for doing what you want him to do.  Use either a wide, flat collar or a harness until you know you can pull him off verbally.  Then back to whatever collar you prefer for daily routine work.  That's my take on it, FWIW.

Harness. Because I crank on my dogs neck to get his attention/focus on me and OB why would I want him yanking his own neck trying to do bitework. Too confusing for a young pup. I want blk/wht no grey area for the dog to ponder.

With my other dogs, I always used the wide agitation collar. With my current bitch, I had to go to a harness-she was choking herself to death with an agitation collar. I have a pinch on for corrections.

My dog has ALL those things on, and sometimes an E collar to boot.....and usually at least one or two people on long lines as well....<sigh>

I have always used a wide agitation collar. I've never needed a harness, but I'm certainly not opposed to one should the need arise.
