Yes tina is the one pushing for AKC in the next few years and that is what i dont understand about her she wants the control of her Shilohs and then pushes for AKC?what dose she think is going to happen? She is complaning about the others... now wait till she gets her AKC recognition it wont take long for Shilohs to be registerd with the USA CKC and others like it !!!! She will lose control over her breed.
Her talk about her registration beeing a the only reptuble one every one else is a back yeard breeder ,puppy mill and on and on ....She complains about the "other ones " not breeding to her standard and at the same time she wont let them use it and then complains about "the others " changing it so they have one as well. She is boycotting(sp) her owne breed to be shown.
She is talking about how the good AKC breeders will look down and never accept the "others" as good breeders but dos not see that they dont see her as one ider (sp) she belives every good AKC breeder will stand behind her.
I think the woman lives in her own world and lost touch with realety.

Sun what do you mean by registered breeder?  Does this lady make you take a class or something in order to breed shilohs?  I have never heard of anything like that do you do it so you can use her kennel name or whats the point?  And please tell me you dont have to pay for this rite if so something is not rite about that.  Sounds like all them pups she is breeding should give her plenty of money could she just be trying to make money on this whole deal?  The more i learn about her the more i wonder if she is not just looking to get ever penny she can out of these dogs.

I'm curious as well because I've come across a "German Shepalute" - which was effectively the same thing as the Shilohs. Being in such a little country, we don't really get to see variations and different breeds eg the Shilohs. I have to say I'm pretty stunned at how much animosity can be caused asking about this kind of thing!
But I do appreciate everyone, in their own way, is trying to keep to standards and make the breed the best it can be. I'm just curious of these dogs - dw, I currently own a beautiful purebred GSD (although she's blue) and won't be on the market for another dog until I get more settled :)

Blair, becuase the shilohs have such a small gene pool, breeding has to be done very carefully. Certain lines go with certain other lines, while some lines, like Sabrina, have to be used very sparlingly because of the major faults they contain (SAS, mega-e, heavy ears, etc.)  The COI has to be carefully watched, too, and must not exceed 20%.

In order to understand all this, Tina requires anyone who wants to breed under the ISSR (NOT her kennel name, though, they must have their own name) to take a course, and become a Licensed Breeder in Training. And no, there is no charge for it, AFAIK.

Yet some of you have the GALL to call this a 'designer breed'??

IF GSD breeders took a FRACTION of the care with their breeding that Tina does, the breed wouldn't be in such a mess!!

It appears to me that you have a great fascination with my dogs -- wonder why?? Are you THAT scared of my competition that you feel like you HAVE TO jump in here & post all kinds of BS just to make yourself feel better?? I don't have the time to play your silly games -- but I have already written HUNDREDS of articles about my dogs, covering every possible subject -- so start moving those fingers & just google up what you are looking for!!!

Just use Tina Barber+Shiloh Shepherd+your favorite keywords -- like hips - size -- whatever!  Or just go to http://shilohhistory.com/ you can find most of the links right there!!

The ONLY correction I will add to SUNSILVER'S post is that the slivers (FRAUDS) have NOT had over 100 outcrosses to GSD (in the few "decades") they have done this in the last few YEARS!

i don't understand why everyone gives tina such a hard time when she is not calling the dogs german shepherds and is doing more health testing than many of the shepherd breeders.   why do gsd people care what goes on outside their breed?

Sueincc said  <<  I agree that the Shiloh is not anything like what a GSD is, or ever was supposed to be, but that's really not the issue anymore. They are a separate breed now. I much prefer the road Tina took to those who intentionally breed outside of the GSD standard and still call their dogs GSDs.  >>

I replied .... Some people DO make some good points!! The Shiloh is NOT a GSD & that is why I get so upset with what the frauds are doing!! Any breed -- once under development should continue to be "perfected" -- like the Dobe -- you don't see folks crossing them back to the Greyhounds!! Some folks are SUCH idiots!! If you people want to fight -- go after the slivers that are using YOUR dogs & calling them Shiloh's!  http://shilohfraud.com/

I feel sorry for Tina Barber and all the b.s. she has to endure. She is the breed founder and she kept very good records as to HER breeding program. The simple reason so many "Shiloh Shepherd wanna-be breeders" split away from her was to do things their way and more importantly greed was the main motive. There was a big fascination with big shepherds in late 80s and throughout the 90s. These greedy individuals  like Judy Vaneman of CJ'S Valley View Kennel, Lisa Lelich of Mason-Dixon Shiloh Shepherds and Wendy Fullerton  of formerly Windsong Kennels and now Raid The Wind (had intention of breeding Shilohs with Leonbergers) by not following the rules have done great disfavor to the breed as MONEY was their only objective.  This information is submitted to this forum based on me owning to Shiloh Shepherds in mid 90s that came from Judy Vaneman CJ'S Valley View Farm.  Female hyper and unstable and male with bad hips and EPI. Ms. Vaneman bought the female back at age of 2 only to breed her immediately.  There was no breeder support for the other dog (male) as there was no more money to be made on him by Ms. Vaneman. She indicated to us that Nico's brother Ranger and his smooth coat sister were also sick and that she had no idea what was wrong with them. That's all the support that we got.  There were also things said by the members of this "new club" that were very damaging to the reputation of Ms. Barber. The main reason for that was to convince present puppy buyer to steer future buyers their way with their money.

"If you people want to fight -- go after the slivers that are using YOUR dogs & calling them Shiloh's!"

If they're not calling them GSD's and they're not implying (as you do) that they're a better representative of our breed than our breed itself is, why should we care?

How true!!  The things I have seen over the past decades would make a grown man cry!!  If any of you want to be upset about GSD "changes" then look at  http://selah1.homestead.com/pg1.html  that is where Judy & her friends are getting their 'stock' and then with her magic wand --  putting fake (shiloh)  papers on them!!  Then they are crossing those dogs with YOUR GSD'S!!

If you want to see the "type" I am breeding for -- just check out  http://acer-issr-shilohshepherd.blogspot.com/
