Hmm, I'll include myself, gentlemen ( I assume you are) as a damn knowledgeble breeder.  What the two of you are discussing is type.  Simple enough.

Look back at some of the "Past dogs' on my site and see those pedigrees.  Now, what is 100% czech?

Problem with marketing, and that is where the problem lies, most people looking at dogs do not even take the time to do anything more than lousy internet research and then believe they know what they are looking at.  Picking up a book and reading about training dogs is no different.  Or even better yet, one person had two dogs and therefore is. . .

egads.

Back to cleaning kennels.

One question:  Does anyone know where I can get a quality Italian Maremma Abruzzese?

Hi all
I actually purchased a dog from Michal Rehor in July 2010.
"Casper z Jukazu"  he was a 1 year old started dog.
and it was a super nice dog, great pedigree, the dog was exactly what he was advertised to be.
No problems at all,  it was a smooth transaction all the way around, really good price, and a good started sport  dog like that here  in the states would be twice the money.
I would purchase another one from him no problem. I had actually looked at Michals  most recent litter on the website and was tempted, but I currently have two pups I just imported by Como Bonaeur wald, and don't have time for another puppy!
Hardest part is waiting for papers, but like that with anything from czech republic, whole process usually takes at least two months before you get the paperwork.
You can definitely in my opinion and previous experience purchase much better bred dogs from european countries, but the shipping makes  the pups cost more than many of the puppies here in the states from the smaller kennels.
Most of the larger kennels with decent breeding stock have gotten more pricey, $2500 and up, and you can buy a really  nice puppy and chose from a much broader gene poole, and have it shipped from czech cheaper than that.
It is the way to go as far as I am concerned.

For me Nancy your older dogs like Moli, Agar, Cimi, Olymp etc were full Czech bloodlines. If you bred them together then I would say, and you should be able to say, that your pups would be from Czech bloodlines. You shouldnt have to call them American working bloodlines because Hans says you are not from Czech.
But I would not consider your Ron a Czech dog, even though he was over there. If you bred Ron to Moli I would say you have a West x Czech bloodline.
And as for a so-called "Czech Type"? I have owned many Czech dogs and they were all over the shop from Sporty to civil to nerve bags. And these include dogs bred by and sold by Jiri that were nerve bags.
The reality is Czech is far from its glory days of the 90's.

Its just funny how all of the Czech breeders and Importers rave about their dogs and bloodlines, but when you look at the results of Schutzhund and police dog trials etc you do not see their kennel names. Who buys all the puts they are advertising evidently not working homes. Do they go to pet people  for personal protection, where do they end up? Its not a knock on their dogs but they have many many pups for sell but I never see them getting titled in schutzhund or police dog trials.

Hey Copdogs.  I have had plenty of police dogs and dogs compete in Schutzhund USA to include 3 in Nationals and my share of titled progeny.  I'm just older now thank you so lets be respectful.   Check out pedigrees instead of the kennel names and you will find a lot that comes back here.   My first German Shepherd was a personal protection dog.   Does that make it an unworthy dog?

One of the best dogs in a police dog trial in '98 came in 4th or 5th simply because he decided to drag the downed decoy around by the foot.  Oh what's a few points?  NICE dog and soooo overlooked just because. . .

Real Dogs, yes, I concur, Ron von haus Bernhardt Mader was West German and so it is a cross and counted as such.  Ron was a very worthy dog to breed because he successfully competed in WUSV 2x along with producing a number of competitors for WUSV.  So a good "like type" to cross.  There is a Ron daughter in NY that has a litter now and she is an amazing female.

How about Cilka Milvel bred to Urxi?  or Hill ze Slovanskeho Domu bred to a Nina z Westwood x Pascha Ga Ta daughter?   IMO old czech lines except  Grim z Pohranicni Straze brings in the higher prey not always seen in the old czech lines and so a different twist with that dog.

I'm sorry to hear you had dogs that did not make the grade.  email me privately with why?

back to the posters question:

Cheers
