Ruger1

by Ruger1 on 11 March 2011 - 19:03

Here is Prince's debut.....It took me this long to figure out how to post a video....

I hope this falls under training/ obedience LOL.. as it is far from the finished product and extremely live and uncut..lol... This video was taken when Prince was almost  9 months old and BEFORE I sent Prince ( and me ) for training with Kelly....

Since the taping of this video  I have learned much better techniques in obedience training thanks to Kelly... and others from the PDB.....: )

I know posting this video is risky opening myself up for snarky comments and criticism. On the other hand I look forward to the comments and critics .....Either way, I know I stand something to gain / learn by it.....: )

I plan on posting a video in the very near future to show how well Prince and I have progressed since the taping of this video......

             Deanna...: )

Deanna, I LOVE it! That video made me smile. I think it's a great start for both of you, and Prince is so handsome!

You both look good..and I am glad you found help...what you are doing here is more than what most pet owners do with their dogs...

Nice house, nice garden.

If you have been training Ruger Prince on your own as seen in the video, it is pretty good.  A bit loose on the heelwork but is expected in the early stages.  My only suggestion for the down as he seem most reluctant is to reward that position more often prior to proofing the down stay.

I am also training my first GSD on formal OB by myself and there are some things which I struggle.  It is brilliant when the training goes well.

Look forward seeing the more recent Ruger's Prince's work.

Deanna,
That was really nice.  You are doing a really good job with Prince.  He sure has come a long way.  Remember, he is a GSD, so stop correcting him like he is a chihuahua.

Keep up the great work with your dog.  Way to go.

Very nice.  Prince was very advanced for his age.  You've done well with him.

Andreya...This video makes me smile too....and laugh..lol...: ) Thanks for the compliment..

Ladyfrost...Thanks..I often think of your kind PM's back when ......: )

Poseidon...I love gardening and landscape design...When we built our home I was able to start with a clean slate ..Planting and designing was a lot of hard work, but very enjoyable...:)  I do love working with Prince and will make a new video as soon as the snow thaws....What does loose in the heel work mean? I would assume you mean that he is not staying close enough?...Thanks for your input...

Jim.....Ya think....lol..  : )      Chihuahua...: )  ....lol....All joking aside you are not kidding...He is a handful...

animules......What a nice compliment...Thank you...: )

Deanna
Prince was coming on very well for his age, a very nice video to watch.  Just a little thought keep hold of  him on the leash when heeling that way you can correct him instantly if he goes too wide etc, and a little firmer commands voice wise when getting him to Down or sit. Otherwise Great
