We're military and so we just moved to Clarksville TN, when I look on the internet there are not too many to choose from or it seems like reviews are not great. Right now I have my puppy in a puppy training class but that is for new experiences and socialization (I am able to teach him basics), the lady is nice, she's young and she trains with lots of treats, she has not been training long (I believe she was a vet tech and then went to school for 2 years). She a nice person but she doesn't offer too much and I was looking for a longer term, something for my boy and I to do type of training. Is anyone familiar with different types of training available in the area? If I do something more intense or even just try it to see if we are both cut out for it, I do not want an inexperienced person doing the training. It is hard to ask questions when you do not know what would consist of a BS answer and some people are great sales persons, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jennifer

    clee27...

Finding a really good trainer might require traveling depending what you are looking for..

...but IMO it is worth every mile and penny...: )

Thanks for your input Deanna, I think Birmingham Al is about 2 hours away and there is a certified nose work trainer there, so that may end up being something I could try if there is no one close to home. Jennifer

Hello, I have just seen your topic and wanted to share with you, what I do with my dog.We are military also and live in Clarksville,tn. I have seen the post on Clarksville Family Magazine about a canine sport called Flyball and wanted to try it out.My dog and I got hooked from day one.We are still practicing and attending to the tournaments that are close.I have seen some German Shepherd purebreds n mixes that are really good at flyball.I think they still have the ad on the magazine.

@Ace- You are such a giver! Care to explain why it costs double to train me over the Internet if I take the collar off my dog?

Lol @ Laura... Ace, once again you've offered your help in my time of need... you're really proving to be a special person =)! I'll pay the $80 an hour if Ms. LF has the leash that's attached to your collar, I think I could really learn something, ha ha! Jdbix, thank you for your suggestion. Jen

I'm pretty sure there's a group that trains together not to far north of you, Jen...somewhere around the Franklin, KY area.  Give the folks at Schneiden Fels a call...they should be able to help: http://www.schneidenfels.com/
