Alphapup, I agree in what you're saying.

The process of developing a training programme for the specific type of dogs in protection work requires skilled helperwork.  Now how do we measure/assess the overall credibility of helperwork unless one perhaps consider the performance of dogs entered for trials from where the helper does his work.  Or could it be intuiitive understanding of bitework training from visiting many training clubs including attending seminars and learning from other people's mistakes.

We can try and break down all the elements and discuss them individually but nonetheless, it requires a good helper to assemble the process for a learning dog.

Thank you VKGSDs for explaining what SDA means.  Trying to drag you back with one query.

"What I really like about the PA - P3 titles is that every level always begins and ends with a greeting and re-greeting."
What is greeting and re-greeting means?

posiedon .. i think you have the right idea but i would throw out trials .. because .. 1. some dogs just can work better than others ..2.  IMO one judges a dog on it's own  merit and not compared to others .. your dog may be doing great considering it's potential !! and people and dogs make mistakrs at trials , hence the loss of points.. mistakes does not mean poor helper work or training , or even a bad handler because of a few minor mistakes ..
greeting .. i think that is a good idea ..THAT is what i always do with my GSDS  after foundation work .. i will have my dog platz., beside the decoy dressing in the bite suit , afterwards  amybe have the descoy/helper  act funny and just circle  my dog .. again they can and will say hello /greet .. sonetimes not .. .. now the concept is not they be friends as some would think .. no .. it's about the dog having self control .. the attack comes .. when ik say so .. or unless it is an automatice 'defense of the handler ' perconditioned exercise .. same with agitation .. i don't care if the helper / decoy ,  with sleeve / bitesuit is 5 feet in front of me .. the  dog holds his heel position , calm,  cool collected , no collar , no leash and i don't expect him to be all wound up .. and no .. you Sch people - that does not kill drive as you would say .. why .. because the dog understands / has been taught  that self control will ultimately bring him to his goal .. by controling himself .. that is where he gets to take the helpr out and get sent for an attack .. act like a nut .. he gets nothing !! many sports , unlike Sch are control sports.. a greeting [ which i really really like] , even in regular everyday obedience never mind protection sports .. requires a dog to control itself !!
