Yesterday I was training in the back yard. Usually when training is taking place and I have one dog running the venues the others are going ballistic because they want to be there, doing the same thing. When it gets too crazy and too loud I put all the dogs that aren't being run in the house.

I'm working Bella, (the pup) and Ana, (Czech) is just going crazy in the house. She hears the commands and praise and Bella barking and Ana just keeps turning it up. Next thing I see and hear Ana up in the kitchen window against the screen whining/squealing trying to get out. As soon as I tell her to get down she's back up. Just wants to be out there training. I hear peace and figure she's laying down. Next thing I see and hear her up in the second floor window against the screen trying to get out. So I have to stop training, go inside and grab her and put her in a crate till it's her turn. (so she doesn't come through the screen window).

Gotta love that drive and dedication..................................

your lucky that she didnt chew up everything in your house. Or come through the screen and get hurt. I guess next time you will just put her in her crate when you take her in. *shakes head*

Yeah, my dogs would come right through the plate glass window in the front of our home if they were loose during another dogs training, & they could see what was going on. Mine must be crated for everyone's safety during training. They all want to be the one! Even if they just finished, they still would 'go again', if they could! jackie harris

I had a similar incident with our then new addition to the household, Ronin.  We had gotten him from an abusive home and I had spent a long time working with him to get him back to being a dog.  He was a shell, so beat down (yes he had been beaten).  I worked with him every day.  I took him with me one day to go work Loki.  Ronin was still curled up in a ball with his ears out to the side, head pressed tightly on the ground.  The only time I saw any interest was when Loki was jumping through the window obstacle.  Never thougth anything of this until the day I was out in the side yard with my neighbors, their daughter snuck up on me and did a "BOO" in her Halloween costume.  I mock screamed (she was 5 years old).  Next thing we know, Ronin has jumped through the screen on the window a story and a half up (thank goodness it had rained and the ground was soft) and hit the ground at a dead run, he realized I was alright and came over to sit next to me.  I was floored, this dog never did anything but curl up in a ball and imitate a rug.  I checked him out from head to tail and sort of fussed over him.  That was all it took, he was a different dog from that day forward.  He gets into everything and I have purchased childproof locks for the cabinets, fridge, and door knobs.  He loves agility and has a nose that just won't quit.  He is a great search dog now, and my best buddy.

The kicker here is you can only read typed words. So, how you take things or how you meant things could be two totally different fields. Of course, NO ONE wants, their "babies", partners, investments to get hurt, common sense. My initial thought was to say(since no one knows except the neighbor) just how much my dogs love and want to train. And YES, each dog WANTS to be "IT" which in my eyes is part of that bonding we talked of in another thread. But also, the drive, the love, the want to TRAIN. Where the dog can not just sit still. If he/she hears a command then the action to take action or be the primary dog. That was my initial thought to put out there. Not attempting to put the dog in a precarious position where injury was possible. But just how "hungry" my dogs are!

I don't know what it's like to have a lap dog or a dog that lays or whatever around the house. And NOTHING is wrong with that. Just don't know that experience.

So you know how your dogs are and knowingly risk a injury?*Shakes head*
