kt484,
How to train depends on what you intend to do with the dog.
Depending on the dog I begin real obedience training between four and six months of age.
You mention clicker, bite work, and help in the future, what plans do you have for this dog?

kt484,
By this time my dogs know sit, stay, come when called, and most basic commands and manners.
I would not use prongs unless I had a problem dog, and never on a puppy.
Most puppy training is done with positive reinforcement and rewards.
Serious training first involves getting focus, and the dogs attention, I do this with a choke collar and a longe line, others do it differently.
Old school I call it, Koehler style as in William Koehler.  Not everything, just the longe line work, you might find him in the Library or a book store.
When done correctly it can be a useful foundation for any type of training.
These days you will get many opinions and a variety of methods but this line work has always served me well.
Once you've got focus everything is possible.

KT484 - With all due respect , do your dog and yourself a favor, instead of seeking advice on this Forum for training your dog by yourself. Seek advice on this Forum for a Professional Trainer in your area.

Then, research the Trainers that were recommended to you.

Your dog will thank you.

Just my opinion for what it's worth

kt484,
Socializing and exposing your dog to new things is also a very important task you must be aware of.
Show him the world around him every chance you get.
Keep it simple, best rule of thumb.
