Hi everybody.
I need holidays. The best holiday I can have is to go somewhere alone with my GSD pup (almost 14 weeks now) and leave everything else behind.

I was wondering if there are some places that I could combine week or two of rest and learning/fun for me and my pup (group or one-on-one). I live in WA State but I would be more than happy to travel.

Any ideas?

I live in the UK so too far away from you but the US is a huge place so I'm sure you'll find something to suit your requirement. If you don't find anything, maybe it's something you could start up yourself during the months of better weather?

Good luck in your search.

Wait til the pup is a bit older in the winter and go to Florida and train with Ivan or Steve, or go to California and go to Mikes.

Vineyard...   That's sounds promising... How old my pup would have to be for that?

I like the sound of California in the winter  -  Florida is as far as it goes for me (being on a northwest tip of WA – San Juan Islands).  Any contact info, requirements, necessary age of puppy, etc.?

So meanwhile, it looks like I’m going camping... Sometimes I feel like I’m getting to old for that – mattress on the floor and canned food doesn’t feel very comfortable nowdays...  BUT there is nothing better for bonding than a week in mountains one-on-one. Well maybe a week in a cabin instead of a tent...

I probably would feel much safer with my girl, but I don’t want to take them both.  They both want to be my Number One and I want to focus on a little one right now.
Any ideas on nice, dog friendly getaways? People are getting pretty up tight lately about dogs... And I don’t want to keep my pup on leash all the time...

Maybe if you just want to spend time with your pup then as opposed to formally training her during your time away from home, is it worth looking into whether you can rent a small cottage/cabin etc for however long you wish to do this for?

It would mean it would be just you and your pup. You can do as you please whnever you wanted to without any interference from anyone or other dogs you have back at home.

Niesia,

Too bad you didn't ask sooner.   Cascade just spent three weeks of training every day at the club field in Olympia.  We had a young helper come over from Holland for the second year in a row and ALL he wants to do is work dogs.  We worked from 9 to noon, went to lunch, and came back to the field to work some more during the week and Saturdays.   We ended with a farewell barbeque on Sunday .  Lots of progress made with the dogs. Can't wait to do it all again next summer.  I scheduled my vacation around his arrival, so it was a "dog training holiday."

btw--Cascade is hosting the first Dutch Shepherd National Championship next September and we already have entry inquiries from Holland and other European countries, so it is shaping up to be an international event.  C'mon down!

Siam Crown Kennels in Thailand will be announcing plans for a 10 day training camp for French and Mondio ringsport with
Frederick Beyer of France. He is one of the top trainers and decoys in French Ring in the world. They will also touch on KNPV and IPO.
There will be trainers and Decoys with and without their dogs from around the world. I think they are going to limit it to apx 20 people. Contact Somsack Sodachan at  martialdog@hotmail.fr  also his skype name is thaidecoy

I think the camp will run from Jan 15 - 30 , 2012  -  I already bought my ticket.
