black sable sch is about training not handling. If it was just that simple we would see alot more people doing it. I dont want to turn this into a debate but its way more than that. The more you get into the sport BLack Sable you will see that. ceddy

Unfortunately what happened to Dtown and his dog happens more than we would like to think. I personally know of several instances where dogs "in training" were abused and not fed properly. Whenever you opt to have your dog trained by someone else (particularly at another geographical location), it is always a risk. They become property. That being said, there are many reasons to seek help in getting a dog titled. Most of these have been covered, but let me add that not everyone has the physical health to train a dog in Schutzhund. And they want to see the dog reach his potential. Thank you Dtown for sharing your experience. While there are two sides to every story, it might help others check references more carefully of those "trainers" who have pretty web sites and talk a good story. Bottomline--hope your dog recovers.

Schutzhund at one time was to prove the dog had the mental and physical criteria to be worthy of passing that dogs genetics on. The fact that in some areas it has been watered down so you have Sch3's coming off the sleeve or not completing an excerise by leaving the field has nothing to do with what the original intent was. This post was not meant to be a discussion about why, or why not get a Schutzhund title. Nor was it meant to be a discussion about training your own versus having it trained. It's wonderful IF you have the correct club with competant training director and helpers to do it yourself. It's wonderful IF you have the physical capability to do it yourself. Don't hammer on the people who don't have those options and decide to send their dog to a professional. JMO.

Hello, there is no proof. This whole topic was made up and is a joke. You are all acting on the word of an anonymous nobody. Can you honestly believe this s**t? Will you please look at what you have become? Could you all please put as much into training as you do in this nonsense? Don

Ok i have read every ones emails. Let me clarify my situation for every one. I have no experience in SCH. This is my first dog. My dog is out of a great pedegree. Every one in his pedegree is titled. I was interested in getting into SCH. But being I have no experience I wanted to ensure that my dog was given the training from a (what i understood to be) a very good trainer. I was suppose to be also working with Jerry but then I was transfered with the GOV to NC from TX. Well thats 33 hours from me. There is not a SCH club with in 2 hours of me. So I paid Jerry to do a BH and SCH. In Jerrys defense Zues had basic obedince. So when I left him he told me he would make vids and send them ect. Each time I talked to him he stated he was doing this and that.....but no vids. Camera's broken, friends got it ect. Sent him money to take him to a training seminor. Another person who I dont know if I believe told me that they had friends at that one and he never went. I found trails and trails and he even stated there were trails here and there.....the dog never went. Something always came up. So after 4 or 5 months I became very unnerved that I could not check on my dog, could not get the titles done. He told me the last trail was a 1 1/2 from me. TOld me he was ready for the show. I said cool I will meet you there. Then he said well he is doing every thing but the long down. Then it was well we can do the bh but not SCH. So he went back and forth about that. I finally told him I wanted the dog back that I was tired of the run-a-round. Then he told me he would give him back when he was done. Well long story short he was out of town, i told him i was comming there, then he was going else where, again I was coming there. I finally called the FT. Worth Police dept who went to his house and they(police)told me that Zues was there and that they had talked to Jerry and he was making arrangments to send the dog home. But 30 min prior he was in MO and heading to Chicago. My wife drove to ST. Louis where here sister lived. Then drove to OK and met Jerry and picked up the dog. Then the next day took him to the vet in ST. Louis. $600 (or so) later the dog left the vets office. The dog was on alot of meds and is doing great now. I dont know if I will try again. I feel like my poor dog has been thru soooo much. My email is DTownDually@aol.com. Jerry did pay me back all but $300 for the BH and $0 for the SCH. At this point I am concerned for the other dogs. I am not sure if I will persue any legal action I dont know yet. He continues to talk about working for SunRise Kennels in Dallas...told me he done alot of work for them. They happen to have Zues dad Marek and so I emailed them just to let them know that he was telling people he did work for them. I was informed that he has not worked for them in a long time and that they had no plans to ever use him again....Long on talk, short on do. Thats what their feelins are about him. I assure you folks I am not here to create any problems. I am simply telling you what happened with this trainer and my dog. You can choose to believe what you wish. I have no reason to lie about this. You folks my judge me for not training my own dog but i simply ask you this. Can you teach someone spanish if you dont know it. If you tried how much would you get wrong. I had every intention of getting my dog back and joining a club and learning all I could. I had planned on joining prior to even getting him back to learn what I could before he came back. Having a Wife and 3 kids it was tough moving 33 hours and setting up a new life. So no trying to learn and teach a dog SCH was not something I had the time to do. I hope this clears up some questions about the situation.

Again, I hope your dog gets better. And I hope you find a good club and learn from a good trainer. I understand someone wanting to have their dog titled, I just know how much fun it can be to do on your own. Besides, can you ever really trust anyone besides yourself?

Black Sable, I worked with a guy whos girlfriend was a trainer. She was really busy and suggested Jerry. Now I had talked with Jerry prior to her even saying that in the internet one night. I met him and he seemed like he really knew what he was doing. Yes, he said he does sch he does it all....here is a link to another one of his web sites. look at the top. http://www.zahnweg.com/bh
