How much can I expect to pay for a dog with a sch I or a svv1 title. Also do any of you know where I can purchase a dog with one of these titles to get involved with the sport of schutzhund. I perfer the dark sable type dogs as opposed to the saddle-back. Also I am just a middle class working woman that can't afford the high dollar dogs you see advertised all the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get a pup, then find a Schutzhund club in the area. They should help you from there. http://germanshepherddog.com/clubs/index.htm Go to that site to find a club. They may even be able to help you find a pup. I actually found a great pup from a litter advertised on this site in "litter" under the Marketplace.

We charge 2200 Euros for putting a SchH1 with KKL on a dog, that includes food and board. Add to that the cost of a puppy, cost of raising it up to a year+, cost of having it prescreened, then a-stamped and then getting it ready for titling and you get the idea what a titled adult should cost you. Cheap dogs are not always such good deals. There is usually a reason why a dog is cheap. If budget is an issue you might need to settle for an older titled adult (5 years+), or a pup. If you have some cash to spare you can look for a young adult that is at least a year old, has been properly a-stamped so that there are no surprises there later and has been evaluated to see if capable for SchH. Then seek out a club and have a go at it yourself. You are not limited to SV SchH clubs, you can try DVG or other working dog associations if there is nothing else close by. If you are seriously looking send me a message, I might be able to help you find the right dog.
