Thank you, Bee. BTW, you're about the only 'bee' I've seen lately :-(

Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta, Ca
( edit to say, I never had the fortune to work this)
Myrtle Beach; Arabian Knights, ( I know there was talk some years ago about opening one there, like the one in Kissimmee, Fl) maybe Medieval Times, or Dixie Stampede.
( also, never worked these, either. Didn't like the setup for the horses at Dixie, so declined the offer there and the one at Maggie Valley) Dollywood has a wild west show, now, I think.

Heck, as for wild west shows "going down the toilet", as SS so poignantly stated, the rodeo company I worked for, based in Kankakee, Illinois, put on a Wild West Show at Cabrini-Green in Chicago......Standing room only, not to mention I was the only white person there and it was a blast. No animals were hurt and we made it home safely :-)

@ above reference to "we made it home safely"......that was home to base in Kankakee, through the most horrible traffic I've ever been in, including NYC, hauling my twenty four foot goose neck trailer. Chicago roads seem to be under perpetual construction and the most concentrated traffic anywhere.

Joanro,

Those pictures and experiences are waaaaaayyyyyy beyond cool.

Thank you in every way for sharing.

MORE?!?!?!?!?

I for one would love to see and/or hear all you've got.

:)

What does PBR stand for, Joan?

The Stampede is in WESTERN Canada, though and is world famous. I was referring to Ontario only, and my (very limited) experience with rodeo. I'll shut up  about it now (my wrist has been duly slapped),  I used to ride western, and can appreciate the skill involved in the rodeo events, so please don't lump me with the PETA crowd!

Thank you for sharing your experiences!  I would love to see something like that live!

We have Medieval Times here in Toronto. I went to a performance as part of a conference I was at, and it was a blast!  I've seen jousting in films, of course, but to experience it up close is a thrill that's hard to describe.

You're forgiven, SS. Sorry I got touchy.

PBR is Professional Bull Riders. Association started around early 90's . Bull riding only, and I have worked a couple of them . Ford Tough Series is broadcast on Sport channel. Brazilians usually dominate.

I have to go mow grass now, while I can still see over it (it's not raining for the moment).
Then I'll tell you about Willy Nelson and my Brahmer, Sierra.

Joan,

Now that you mention it, I think it must have been the Medieval Times, but my mom had been talking about seeing the Dixie Stampede, I am sure of that, because in the show theme, one had to choose between "the North and South" Thinking ... they were held at the same place, I guess? So, I just asked my son, who was very young at the time, and he remembered eating "Dragon Soup" without a spoon and he wanted more, but didn't get it, ha!  Anyway, my impression was that the acts were very skilled and the horses were loved and cared for by their riders.

Looking forward to the next chapter after your chores. You are both talented as a trainer, rider and a writer!

Bee, Calgary Stampede in Myrtle Beach, Fla.??  Um, no. Don't think so.

There is a city in Alberta, Canada. It's called Calgary. You might want to check there... Teeth Smile

SS: No kidding DUH, now... I was going on the STAMPEDE part mostly, please forgive me, and my selective memory. I think I just explained it above? Must have been the mead they served, or maybe that was at Beefeater's in London, England, another "Medieval Feast" I've been to. I must have been storing them all in the same brain box and the parts got all mixed up!

Calgary sounds too much like Cavalry any way. Don't think I was thinking about places. But no need to beat this dead horse if Joan is back on topic.

I think I just explained it above?

Oops, sorry, we must have cross-posted! Well, being Canadian, I HAD to needle you just a bit... Wink Smile

Well, in that case, let me inform YOU, Myrtle Beach is in South Carolina, not Florida! LOL Clever
