AKVeronica, yes I am and was being "tongue in cheek". This was not meant to be a sexist thread, but a light hearted thread, where we (us males and females) could have fun telling how usless our opposites are, but at the same time try to figure out if Stephanitz was the "all knowing one" that many feel he was. Personally, after reading his book, I found him to be very knowledgeable but "playing both sides of the fence" when it came to certain traits or areas of concern, concerning canines. He would argue with himself about various aspects of a dog, give good arguments for both sides of an issue and then just dismiss one side because it did not fit want he wanted people to think, even if the argument he had given and dismissed made more sense (at least to me). In the vein of the response you posted, I could mentioned many things (such as the "burning bed" syndrom, or the "PMS defense" for assault and murder, or the way men are treated in Divorce Court, or the lack of rights a man has when the mother of his later to be born child wants to have him/her aborted and the father does not have a say in the matter, or the fact that most states, Ohio included, REQUIRE an arrest anytime a police officer is sent to a domestic violation call, even if it is a verbal argument between a married couple (and guess who gets arrested for a VERBAL FIGHT between a man and a women), etc, etc.), but I won't mention those things:). I will instead keep this lighthearted and congratulate the women and men here who posted in the lighthearted style they did, HA HA's and all. I simply paraphased from Stephanitz' book and asked if his conclusion seemed to be correct. As I previously posted, it seems that sometimes he was correct and sometimes not. Of course the times have changed and there are now a lot more variables than there were in his time. I doubt that he thought there were more than two lesbians in the entire world, or that a women would be running for President of either the U. S. or Germany. Yes, the times have changed. Like the country music song says, "I miss back when" ;-)

Those that the dog percieves to be the boss will infact be the boss. I have always encourage my wife and daughters to take part in or do the obediance training so as to establish their authority. But in the end they ( the dogs ) always know that I will have the final say. I don't see it as much of a sex thing as whose the boss. In our home the dogs have always understood that they cannot get away with what ever they want, like they can with my wife and kids. Dogs are such opportunists. Just like kids.

olskoolgsd, I agree with your statement 100%.

>>Two last things to say to Blitzen and Yellow Rose of Texas. Blitzen: Hillary is not President yet, No women has ever won the Heavyweight Boxing Title yet, No women is in the NFL, NBA or MLB yet(tried and failed), No women has ever been the top Commanding General or Admiral of the USMC, USN, USAF or USArmy yet, LUCKY WORLD is right (ROFLMAO). Yellow Rose: << Doright...perhaps I was a bit heavy... I should have simply responded like this: If there were no men on this earth-- all women would be fat, happy, and there would be no crime. Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition. ~Timothy Leary Being a woman is a terribly difficult task, since it consists principally in dealing with men. ~Joseph Conrad If men had to go through the pain of birth, the human race would cease to exist in one generation.

LOL too funny and true Veronica

I just couldn't resist! I have lived with GSD's in my pack for over 30 years Indoor living dogs not kenneled) and I am the one who trained them, two husbands have had their own pet gsd's but again trained by me. I have always found that the males (four of) have somehow voted me the boss and most of the females (eight of) were of the same frame of mind. however I have seen two of the bitches fall head over heels for my husband and whilst taking orders from me have prefered his company I do not know of any studies or science that can explain this other than 'you just like some people more than others'. Temprement wise one of the bitches was very dominant which could explain things but the other was a real wus so that theory doesn't hold out.

In my home, the bitches are "my girls" and the dog is my wife's best friend and protector. But, I do provide most of the care of all of them and do feed them and play with them. This randy dog has the hots for my wife (Hmm, I understand that) and cooperates with me, but has an extreme fixation on my wife and is her loyal servant. And I delivered him when he was born, so "thanks a lot, boy" is all that I can say about it. With the bitches I often hear "I can't do anything with these girls" and that is the point where I intervene and say "no trouble, see?". Do Right, I don't think there are any firmly-set rules, but I feel that canines definitely recognize a difference in the sexes and use this to their advantage when determining pack order. Man's (?) best friend is definitely an opportunist. Bob-O

Kudos, Veronica!! You took the words right out of my mouth. Just sign me too ambitious to want to fail LOLOL.

Veronica. I give in to you and let you win. I could spend all day typing about things like how women get special and preferencial treatment everywhere, from guys opening doors for them, giving up their seats on the bus, and easier employment opportunities and quotas, but I won't. Nor will I spend time mentioning that most fights and murders ARE about women. Nor will I spend time mentioning women like Anna Nichole Smith and her like, taking advantage of senile old men. And I will not waste time discussing why a female teacher can have sex with her "special needs" 12 year old student and get probation but let a male teacher do the exact same thing and he will not only get years of jail time, but will get "punked" in jail by the other inmates. And I diffinitely will not spend time quoting all the famous quotes in the book on my bookshelf titled "Famous Quotes by Famous People" concerning the hazards of having women in the world. No, I will not. You win. I give. P.S., I just can't resist my favorite quote "The more I know about women, the more I like my dog". I have to admit though that I am a sucker for a good looking women, as most men are (except the "funny" ones). Maybe that is why I am letting you win :)

Do right, that was an amazing amount of things you do not say. My goodness, I am so greatful that you did not say all that male-prejudicial stuff, with a word count of 231 words you did not say. I in return promise to not say that women and children represent 70% of global poverty, and 2/3 of all people in the USA who are poor are women mostly single mother households, because it is so much easier for a man to get a job that pays better than what a woman can get in many stratas of society. I also promise not to say that if you swapped out Anna Nicole's sexual equipment, she would be a poster boy for men seeking advantage of lonely wealthy women. And I won't mention Jerry Lee Lewis who married his 12 year old cousin back in 1972, which was the last vestige of a centuries old custom of men marrying children because they had the power to do so. I am so glad you let me win, because...heck...I don't mind winning, but being too far ahead in the race is plain embarressin'.
