Darn, I should have gotten outta here with my dogs. Okay...I was a Little Rock Police Officer in 1985-1987. I bow to your greater experience. I would have loved to hit the door, and didn't get to do so, but all the other things I have done on equal footing with me, as when I was a cop, we did not usually have partners, we each had a car of our own. It spreads out fewer resources, spends less money. I am 5'8" tall and strong from farm labor since I was a kid, so I have physical advantages many other women do not have. I have been a professional horseshoer/black smith. I am now a certified Special Education teacher, with an MAT. Right now, I am trying something new with my life path, so I get to stay home, but might return to teaching next year.

"zdog. No combination, just get past me, Meathead, Socks and Rex, then your rich." I think I might need the Knights of Prosperity for this job. But back to the original topic, It seems Max didn't have much love for people of Asian persuasion or for Jewish people. YOu can defineatly see the "racist" undertones of the time in some of his writing. I don't remember anything in particular off hand, but it seemed he would throw things in about Jewish people hating dogs and dogs not trusting Jews. I loved reading it, but you can tell it was written in a different time. and women don't speak gooder than men. Me Tarzan, you Jane. How can you get more eloquent than that?

Do Right, if I were you I think I'd try to make friends with Veronica. She sounds like she's a pretty tough lady LOL.

Living in Alaska I bet she is too, but I know she is a nice lady and a great person to do business with.

We already are friends. Anybody that was a police officer AND loves German Shepherd Dogs is truly a friend of mine. Especially if she stands up for herself and Veronica does. I like that. I don't know what "an MAT" is though. I'm guessing it means "a" Masters in Teaching :)

That was the right answer, Do Right. You done really good this time ROLF.....

As a side note, what the heck is it like training in Alaska in the winter? I can't hardly stand all of this mud we have been getting lately here in the Cincinnati area. I just moved here about two years ago when I retired and even though winter in Cleveland was hell, I think Alaska is probably worse. I would think yoiu would have one of the "artic" type breeds. I used to have Siberians when I was much younger. Beautiful dogs but do not attach to humans extremely well and will run away every chance they get. Just love to run. Don't bark much and generally suck as protectors. Which reminds me, I never read about anyone using Great Danes for protection or titles, yet when I was in the USMC and at their school learning how to be a dog trainer, one of the other students had a Great Dane as his "partner/project" and that dog scared the crap out of me. I was the "agitator" a few times with that dog and not only did his mouth open as wide as the Grand Canyon when coming after me while on leash, held by his handler, but the handler could not hold him back and was "skiing" across the grass field being dragged by the Dane and I had to run in to an open kennel and close the door behind me, to save my butt. And he was being held by a Marine. This dog tried to tear the kennel fencing apart to get at me. And that was on the FIRST DAY of aggitating this particular dog. I did not have a sleeve that day because it was just supposed to be the lesson about getting him to understand the "watch him" command. Later when I did have the occasion to have him on my sleeve, it was like two Rottweilers at once. Anyone have experience training or working with a Great Dane? I have never trained one since.

Veronica is lucky and they have an indoor place to train. Yeah thats sooo rough! LOL Great Danes were originally bred to be hell hounds. I guess your Marine buddy got one that still held true to that! LOL Usually they are the sweetest of dogs. I can't imagine that mouth coming at me. No thank you very much!
