It is a horrendous story. Horrible for the old woman,also...
Horrible for the breeed. Sooo many people talk crap about pit bulls, this just adds to the dilema for the thousands of 'throw away dogs' already waiting rescue.
Pitbulls ARE NOT a viscious breed of dog,IF rraised properly, and bred properly.
Just another case where to many innocent victims pay the price for pure ignorance!!!

People were not responsible enough for this dog, multiple times pit running the neighborhood, disaster waiting to happen. This being said son may have been a deadbeat but not all living home at that age are deadbeats... I know of a couple that live home at that age to support the parents not the other way around.... tough economy and some cultures win for family caring for family and not needing a separate lodging for every person.

Good posts, KitKat and Newbie.  Plus I have to add: I
didn't see too much wrong with the state of the household
in the original vid I watched;  are you all basing those comments
around the mess outside, by the car she was found under ?  In
which case, most of that was either trash which could easily have
blown in from the street (scraps of polystyrene cups etc), or debris
left from staunching the blood and giving paramedic treatment. So
could be a lot tidier than that, most days !  Or have I missed some
pix of inside the house, or something ?  Agree there are some yobs
who own dogs and are generally feckless and irresponsible, but it
seems premature to make those judgement calls on this situation,
given the (lack of) details available.

I don't know about you guys but when I read the utilities are shut off and can see by the video her car doesn't even have a license plate on it, that just means money issues have plagued this address, to me.

I also was reading comments on some of the news articles. Some things I have not heard about made me curious. Is there really an ASPCA break stick specifically for pit bull breeds? Is tearing a limb off a "fighting technique" that is taught, as seen by the video Lineage posted would indicate?

Fighting technique? Huh? The dog in the sweater? I asked what the point of that was and I still don't get it. My dogs hang like that...Pit Bulls and GERMAN SHEPHERDS. And I'm sure my Chihuahua would join if someone gave him a lift.

If there's a special break stick, it's marketing. A break stick is a break stick...broom handle, what-have-you.

Some of the comments are HILARIOUS...but very sad that there are really people in the world who are so very stupid. My favorite is the woman spouting the reasons Pit Bulls aren't really dogs.

Indeed a horrifying story,,I hope they find that the dog was rabid,,It could have possible been ill or had a tumor..I hope they find something tangible to explain this behavior..Makes my stomach hurt,,,Poor family; poor dog..

I was actually hoping the same thing... that the dog would be found rabid! At least that would be a reason for an attack of such brutality! If the dog had a legal dog license tag, however, they would have to had vaccinated him. I didn't see a rabies tag on the collar picture, so? Who knows, I am not sure how that one plays out.

Jenni, I am such a newbie about some things, still. I can't say either of my dogs have indicated an instinct to want to do what that dog in the sweater was doing.

My really high drive dogs all do it. More "normal" dogs won't do it, usually, unless they watch someone else do it first. I don't let my GSDs hang like that (height) but we will tie a huge rope from a branch (with a spring) and they LOVE it. They have a blast, playing and tugging. It's great exercise.

Jenni, I posted a video of the power and tenacity some dogs can have, while not posting one of the more gruesome and unfortunately numerous videos available in the case of Pitt Bulls. I think these are more gentle videos and I enjoyed them myself. When that much power is there, an arm or a life can be lost. It is hard to say exactly how it went down in this poor woman's case as we have no video of the event, but I enjoy listening to y'all write your own plots into this.
Now when the little dogs do it... It's just funny!

Thx. I couldn't figure out if that was what you meant to post or if it was supposed to be a related vid. but the link was wrong.
