i follow now that here since days.
to me:I never have make a knpv trial, but was on many clubs at home, have tested for sure more than a hundred knpv dogs for work, have breed many dogs who have get used and still get use in knpv.(von der Staatsmacht)

a x-herder(knpv mali, dutch mix or what ever mix out of mali herder pitbull great dane gsd and so one)get most time sold after "Koerung" for between 2500 to 4500 euros. Mass and Utela are for sure the main buyer!!!

a x herder-puppy is to get for round 150 to 400 euros maybe a little more, a gsd puppy between 800 and 1200 euros. if the puppy does not work out he goes to a shelter or in the ground(truth), so why get a gsd for a 1000 euros and lose all the money.only a few people are idealistic with a gsd in knpv, the rest does not care about breed, size, color, ears up or down and so on.all what matters is a dog who works out for that sport to make the PH 1 and sell him direct after or the days before the Koerung. (the good ones get sold before, after koerung is vet appointment and good bye)

My experinece have show that many of the KNPV dogs are only sport dogs and in need of a target(suit, sleeve what ever). There absolut some great dogs in KNPV but you find the same dogs in IPO or Ring and where ever.
the big difference is the trainingsstyle in KNPV, that what makes the dogs look different but not better.

If you see the active GSD today in KNPV they come most time out of IPO dogs or history of IPO. I know a few yeras ago that there was a gsd kennel who was since generation only in KNPV lines, pretty ugly bi color looking dogs.

Well let me say it simple

Most of the IPO dogs will suck in the KNPV . for KNPV dogs is IPO program  a piece of cake

Example the courage( stick attack) test in KNPV I have seen a lot of IPO dogs  running scared away  as a helper

All the respect  I know Staatsmacht and more kennels have serious  good dogs in KNPV but there are dogs lacks courage, hardness, sharpness.
agression etc.

KNPV dogs take the  courage test from the IPO with a BIG SMILE, a KNPV dog must do his job more independent on long distance and I
can go  on and on,. IPO vs KNPV  GSD vs Mali most of te people are very breed blind and program blind.

People like Mike Sutle who,s  testing dogs very serious for real high level militarie, and police work ask this guys ................

KNPV is not a  sport but  a official police program  for 100 yrs one of the less in the world thats why the Dutch police only went dogs from
KNPV  , The Dutch police, government have never buy any IPO  sport dog  and that has a reason........

I have a question for mr Staatsmacht you have tested 100,s KNPV dogs can you give some examples videos  how you did this. what level.?

by duke1965 on 06 January 2014 - 07:01

black malinois your info is not correct, the dutch police buys also dogs without KNPV certificate and also buys german shepherds, like I said before, there is about 400 dogs titling KNPV PH1 per year, a part of those will not be sold, a second part is medical bad, third part are not good enough for police, ( I place several of those per year) and the majority is sold out of the country, so what is left for the dutch police is not enough to fill all openings.

facts, facts, facts. Marcel

question for you, how many dogs did you breed that are KNPV titled and how many dogs did you title KNPV PH 1

@Hundmutter....yes I still have my class with the S/L ladies. They are making good progress. The two ladies with S/L dogs though just got w/l puppies. In all fairness, one of the ladies is crack obedience trainer, started with ASL thirty years ago, went to GSL five years ago, and now wants to be an OTCH. I promised them I would get them to IPO 1 level, then if they wish to go further they would have to join a club in Jersey or Pa. It looks like they all will make it.....Thanks for asking.

@Susie, Hundmutter....Saw Traffic in early seventies at Phila spectrum....we were all high heeled boys in those days!

@Black Malinois

I don not want argue with you or fight, but what you say does not make sence.both are sport!!!KNPV more reality close than IPO, but IPO is the way harder controlled sport.that means heelwork must be straight ,all sits be straight, everything must be fast and correct. In KNPV the dog have more space to use his drive free.

No there are no videos and if i would have videos i would not show or post them to any person.if you want buy a dog i would show you this dog on movie!!!but i can tell you the simple test that you see, that most of IPO or KNPV dogs are only sport dogs and in need of a target.

Go in the bushes sit on a fallen tree, normal pants and shirt, i would suggest to put a fence around you and tell the dog handler to send his dog after ten minutes to revier.
that would be the easiest excercise for a PH1!!!right??  from 10 dogs 9 are going to pass you with out any interest in you, one maybe comes to you and smell on you and leaves then. from 30 maybe one with luck two, that means under 1% of the dogs ,would start to engage you or bark or try to bite or what ever. Why that??No suit (pack) ,no sleeve,no screaming,no target. and this really serious dog ,who really take you there is not to handle for 99% of the people. Who wants a dog with a short switch on duty, i had one , did i like him? yes, did i trust him? no. he send me to the hospital with 36 holes, after that 4 month at home. during my leave he was cage like lion and no one touched him. he was a good dog to clean a dirty bar out but not for normal militar/police. the dog have work with me for 5 years, two days after i left the base they have put him down. one dog out of 1000!!!who wants a dog like that and no unit in the world want a dog like that.
in 2008 we have get a black mali from Maas,(was returned from the states) great dog with everything, after 4 weeks in training he have send his handler in 4 month vacation.Dog have go back to Maas.

There is only a handfull dogs like that and only a few people who can handle that.
Olex de Valsory,Tyson Schiffslache,Sid Haus Gremm have been GSD like that, they all had have multi handler before someone have make them work out.
