So Echo I take it you do not eat meat or feed your dog meat? If you do, how is it processed, both for you and your animals. Unless and until you're a hard core vegan and also do not wear or use leather products, do not tout torture and cruelty to livestock. Aslo, the animals the people from PETA are being charged with crulety in killing were never tested for anything. Many were owner surrenders with pormises of new homes. They were killed before the PETA van even left the previous owners driveways. Also you do not think it's wrong then for PETA to terroize kindergarden kids by telling them their mommy and daddy's are killers? If that's not wrong WHAT THE HELL IS IN YOUR OPNION????

Animules, In previous posts, I clearly said, I do not condone much of what Peta has done or would do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! weather or not I am a veg or not has nothing to do with me likeing or dislikeing animals being tortured. Torture is Torture and if they stopped one case of it, Then a job well done, THAT IS ALL I AM SAYING ! Nothing more nothing less.

Echo Give it up.. You have no case defending Peta! None of us enjoy seeing the abuse of anamils and we all realize how people just throw away their pets. Nobody likes the thought of having to put a pet down and we all realize why it happens. Peta is nothing more than terrorists and while they have a few good things that they do it does not justify all the other things he does. That sounds like a women who defend their husbands after he beats the crap out of them"He's just so nice to me when he not drinking"..... I like you echo but disgree 100%

by EchoMeadows on 27 January 2007 - 04:01

OK is anyone getting that I am not defending them ?? I am simply saying they have done some good things too, Not that that dismisses wrong doings. Just that there are some good things that have come from Peta's involvement, That's it. DR I like you too, and I don't disagree with you at all. I agree 100% but still beleive credit due where credit earned. If I only did one good thing in life, I would hope that a single person could at least acknowledge it. Not that it would negate all the bad things. Do you understand what I am saying. :-)

And you didn't answer my question. and yes it is pertinent. If you buy meat at the store for you, your family, or or animals, including dog food, then you support the supposed torture you are so proud of PETA exposing. Darn right it's pertinenet.

by EchoMeadows on 27 January 2007 - 05:01

It's not up to me to police these slaughter houses, It's up to USDA, however when they failed to do so, Peta stepped in, Yes I eat meat, And yes I feed my dogs well. That absolutely DOES NOT mean that I am in SUPPORT OF IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM THE INTENTIONAL TORTURE OF ANIMALS RAISED FOR FOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT EVER

Isn't it just sad. The life of anything that is not human. WE kill just about every living thing that there is, to eat it, or use it's skin/fur, or to use it in medical experiments. If we don't kill it, some other animal will, and eat it while it's still alive. I have said it before, I just don't understand why God made a world like that. If there is a God. If a wild animal dares to attack a human, we hunt it down and kill it. But we humans hunt animals for all sorts of reasons, including "sport". How many of us go fishing, catch a fish and because it swallowed the hook, we grab the hook with a pair of pliers and pull it out of the fish' mouth, pulling it's innards out also? Then we throw the fish back in the water and don't give it much thought after. Maybe we eat the fish, but probably not. And then there's the worm we ran a hook through. How many of us kill every spider we see, instead of picking it up and taking it outside to the yard or woods? We sure are lucky being born as people. But then, we kill each other for all kinds of reasons also. PETA is a bunch of nuts. As usual, when someone is passionate about something, it usually gets carried too far. I repect animals and trees very much and in fact try to not kill insects when I can. I just catch them and take them to the woods. My wife will kill every spider that comes across her path. I am not saying that people who hunt deer, or people that step on spiders or go fishing are terrible persons. Our world is what it is. But I am saying that I will never understand killing for sport or laziness. A while back, there was a thread here that gave a link to a site that showed people in China, Korea and I believe the Phillipines, that showed dogs being sold for meat, alive, with their front legs bent behind their backs and tied, and with soup cans over their mouths as they lay there alive, waiting to be bought for the soup pot of humans. I have trouble getting that image out of my thoughts ever since I saw those pics. I sure wish I had not went to that link. My opinion of people was already very low. Now my opinion of people and God is very low. I will probably go to hell if there is a God, but then again, maybe He will send me back to earth as a dog in the Phillipines. Maybe that is hell. I'm sorry for my soapbox. I still can't get over the deer hunters kiling my friend Kobe and eating him, and then seeing those pictures of the dogs for sale for eating. I understand EchoMeadows point to a degree. Yes, PETA is a bunch of zealot idiots, but then again. Oh well, what's the use in even talking about it. Nothing will change. As long as there are deer, they will be hunted for fun, by us.

by EchoMeadows on 27 January 2007 - 09:01

Do Right, I remember your thread about Kobe, That is indeed one of the most heartwrenching stories I have heard on this site !! again, I am very sorry for your loss. I agree anytime someone is passionate about any subject (and we have all certainly proved it here on this board when it comes to GSD's,) we get a little nutty/overboard. I gather your Kobe has not returned I had hoped he would someday. :-)
