"I will probably go to hell if there is a God, but then again, maybe He will send me back to earth as a dog in the Phillipines." Too broad a statement IMHO. There's a pretty big dog fancier community in the Philippines, including show and working dogs of all kinds. Barring the purebreds, there's still the native dogs that end up like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvXMyAprXlk (Since there's no English translation, the gist is that this dog is feeding helping his master in poverty by doing tricks and so on). In a lot of households the local dog is loved and regarded as a family member. The care and so on is not the same as in western society, but I wouldn't say I would not want to be a dog in the Philippines. In fact I'd rather be a dog in the Philippines than a dog in the US--but then that's neither here nor there. While it's true there's a problem concerning animal cruelty in that country particularly with those dogs being eaten, it is not as common as it's touted out here, and from what I understand is illegal except in certain indigineous areas. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Echo.. I see where you are coming from and understand. Maybe Peta started out with good intentions than got carried away and led by crazies. Do right and fear no one You have good points and I also never kill anything unless I have too. But I do eat meat all the time. Nothing wrong with that either. God put mankind on earth with dominion over everything and to use animal's for our subsistence.

First I want to say that Echo I really do like you... But just reading this thread, it does sound like you are defending them.. this is the jist of what I am getting from your posts. .... ok so they have done a couple bad things but they have done good things to and I support the good things..... Most child molesters have done good things too in thier lives...but that one thing far out weights the good stuff. In fact they only do the "good" things to get to the point that people trust them enough that they can get away with the bad....and this is how I see PETA. Heather

Anyone wanting PETA trial information can look here. http://www.petakillsanimals.com/Trial_Day5.cfm They are currently on day 5 but one can access all trial days at this link, who knows how long this will last. Keep checking in daily during the week days. PETA = Terrorist! plain and simple. Birdy...

Echo, you said, "So you are all willing to completely dismiss any good things they do ?? So mutilating and Torture is now OK to do ? I don't get it." I said, "PETA believes that it is justified to kill and maim human beings in pursuit of there goal, that EchoMuddle is TERRORISM. Are you condoning the actions of TERRORISTS?" My analogy was just using the same posting tactic you use everytime someone does not agree with you.

Any organisation or fanatical religious sect is BS in my book. The stories and imnages of the NC trial turn my stomach. The first thing that popped into my head was Jonestown. 'Now that my flock is saved... I'm going to kill it." Sick, sick, sick. JMO Shelley

USDA does not patrol kill methods, they patrol cleanliness, or lack thereof. USDA is not even present at USDA approved facilites in other countries. If you think livestock production and processing is torture, go vegan. Or raise your own.

shinokami: I don't mean to put down the people of the Phillipines in a "broad" way, but I can not help it. There is an old American saying. "One mans trash is another mans treasure". That could easily be switched around to "one mans hell is another mans home sweet home". I have been to the Phillipines, albeit in the 70's. Many were dirt poor, hungry and willing to do just about anything to eat. I guess we all would when it comes down to it. I was in the Phillipines for 3 months and not once did I see a dog anywhere. Not in the Markets. Not in the yards. Not in the streets. I am sure that there are dog lovers there, as there are everywhere (even in China), however, the "mind set" in the Phillipines seems to be different than the mind set in the U.S. concerning dogs. I would rather be a dog in the U.S. I would have a much greater (HUGE) chance of getting a decent home. Yea, we have a lot of dogs on the streets and in the shelters, but that is because we don't eat them. I am positive that a homeless dog in the Phillipines doesn't get taken to a shelter. Do they even have a shelter in the Phillipines?

I think Echo agrees with most of what we are saying. She does not care for Peta. Her point is they have did a few things to help animals. She understands that does not justify their other actions nor does she agree with them. She is not against eating beef but pointing out the need to be humane in killing cattle etc for food. And is entitled to her position. Did I get it right Echo?
