The true owners need to get together and have a class action lawsuit filed against this shelter and have a cease and desist order filed in court against the shelter. The shelter is liable as they have been made awre that there is an issue and can and should he held responsible for monetary damages.

should be a lesson to all. Do not try to care for more dogs than you are able. Do not place your dogs into anybody's hands who you do not have detailed information on their ability to care for your dogs. Also, it is  the hard work by the many in the legitimate GSD that  they are attracted to the scene, trying to make a quick buck. They fake what they see, without doing the real work, trying to get ahead . they skip the loving, tending and training of the GSD. If there were not good examples of well trained and bred GSD they would not be in our world, they would be scaming and sceaming somewhere else. What might be happening to the individual dogs is tragic, but the likes of this Dawn should be a slap in our faces, not a reason to rally around her.

I'm thinking that the SPCA's in our country are becoming way too powerful!

This is bullshit...

Claims have surfaced of co-owners in Europe for some of the dogs, but CGHS/SPCA President Ron Perez said if that was the case, it ended when Verdeschi agreed to surrender the dogs to the humane society.

“There’s a bunch of charlatans that have popped up claiming ‘We own this one, we own that one,’” he said. “We own all of them. She signed them over to us. If there’s a breach between some interested party and the defendant, that’s between them.”

All of the dogs have been examined, Perez said, and the shelter is in the process of reviewing more than 400 applications for adoption. The shelter gets a fee of $105 for each adoption, regardless of the age or breed of the dog, and Perez said many factors are considered, such as previous pet ownership, living conditions, and whether or not the applicant has kids or other pets. Two dogs were adopted immediately by “people who we knew very well,” Perez said. “They took them right to the vet, they had them examined and bathed.”

More info keeps popping up that just makes me wonder what the real agenda behind this "rescue" is. Looks like someone thought it'd be a good, easy, cheap way to aquire some nicely bred SL GSD's......
Owners showing up with proof of dog ownership/reg. papers & are being denied & turned away from getting their dogs back.

6 dogs were taken directly from the house and given to a trainer for the police, the chair of the shelter competes with this person, and the landlord owns a kennel.

Charlene holds the position of shelter chair person & is one of the folks benifiting from this so called rescue."

There is definitely something fishy going on! If you just google her name, she also comes up with all kinds of programs through the jail. At least 6 and possibly 10 of these dogs were taken directly from the house where they were seized to the police K-9 trainer. Every adult dog at the kennel was a Schutzhund titled dog. The dogs that were co-owned were microchipped and tatooed. They are easily recognizable and ownership is easily verified. The lady who owns the dog from Holland has produced the signed 3 month stud contract that she had! This dog was due to be shipped back to her in March. It is not even a co-owner it was a breeding lease! Charlene competed with Dawn at shows. This reaks of scandel!

Think about this people...if this precedent is allowed if you board your dog and the kennel is raided, you don't get your dog back! If you ship your dog off to a trainer with a training contract and the kennel is raided and the dogs are taken, you cannot get your dog back! If they were truly concerned about the dogs and doing the right thing, why would they not give these dogs back to rightful owners? This whole thing stinks and every dog owner should be incredibly upset about the precedent that is set if this is allowed!

From the Register Star paper in Hudson where the shelter is...
"The dogs are valuable, high-quality German Shepherds that Verdeschi entered into prestigious shows like the Westminster Kennel Club’s Dog Show, among others. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is talking about getting a few into K-9 units, and a few de
puties are planning to adopt some personally.

“She had quite a few top-of-the-line show dogs,” said friend Vinnie Genovese. “Number five in the world.”

If there’s a breach between some interested party and the defendant, that’s between them....
One of the dogs had recently given birth and he suspects that two or three of the dogs are in the early stages of pregnancy. If that’s the case, the pregnancies would likely be aborted when the dogs are spayed, he said. ”

It seems now that this Perez guy knows that other people are claiming ownership of these dogs, there can not be any further legal contracts made, adopting these dogs out.
Basic contract law states no contracts based on fraud can be made, any that have already been made are def voidable. If the kennel owner signed away, what was not legally hers to begin with, there can be no further actions.
These owners need to contact the humane societies attorney and start threatening legal action.
I sure hope someone can stop this from getting any further out of control than it has already gotten.
And just who does this Perez guy think he is calling rightful owners charlatans?
