I don't feed Natural Balance kibble, but I do use the meat rolls, usually the lamb variety.  I have used these for years, for tracking, obedience training, and just treats.  Are there any issues with these?

For whatever it is worth, I was turned on to Earthborn Holistics (they have grain free varieties of dog AND cat food) it's affordable and my dogs coats look stunning on it. For example, here's my girl, this picture was taken today. Look at that coat! Mind you, she doesn't get any additional vitamins or additives, just their Earthborn Holistics' Costal Catch formula. Good luck. I used to feed NB myself, but like you, started noticing changes, and like you, they told me no changes to the formula.

DCW,
I still use the rolls and have not noticed any changes to those..... who knows what the future holds though...lol. So for now I THINK we are safe to still use the rolls. I personally use them as training treats as well as for tracking.

SweetCountryDreamin,
Beautiful Rotty!!!!! The breeder I got my 11 month old( Ice) from mentioned EarthBorn Holistics. I really looks like a great food. It is just really hard to get in the town I live in. I would have to travel about 40+ minutes to get it. I prefer to do the grain free as well. Ice is on a lamb based food right now. I looked at the Earthborn Holistics Meadow Feast... since it is lamb and is grain free. I also looked at the Coastal Catch and like that formula as well. It just isnt available in my area. If it was I would give it a try. The place I saw the Earthborn Holistics at was selling the 28 pound bag for about $40, which is very reasonable for a good dog food. Ice does not eat Natural Balance!

My cat is VERY picky on the dry food he eats. So it will be a challange to find a good lower protein grain free dry food. Which is why he was eating NB.. and because it has Grain Free formulas. He cant have high protein.... took the vet and I about 6 months to figure that out... not to mention ALOT of money... Velcro had been eating NB for 5 years. He loved it and then a little after Del Monte bought out NB he stopped eating it. My mom fed NB to her cats and they wont touch the stuff either...hmmmm....

Xena, my female in my avitar, is almost 8 years old now... but doesnt act like it or look like it. She does not eat the same food as Ice does. I am still feeding her Natural Balance grain free. She is the only one eating it right now. Her coat looks great but with all the issues that I have personally had as well as hearing what other people have told me. I will finish up the bag Xena is eating and then will switch her to something else. Maybe Wellness.... Blue Buffalo... TOTW... not really sure what I will go to..

Jyl, www.chewy.com GREAT customer service, fast shipping and many good foods to pick from. You can order a bag of the Earthborn if that is what you want to try and add a box of treats to it to make the $49 and you get free shipping. Instinct duck treats are good ones and grain free.

By the way, Merrick grain free Duck is on sale for $42 for 25 lbs. Chewy usually has it for $47. Trac Supply sells it now for like $53 as do other online retailers. It has more meat and an animal fat as opposed to Canola oil as in Earthborn. Just look at the first ingredients. It is higher in calorie too. Just a suggestion and of course they have the Earthborn too.

Thanks for the website. But I am going to switch Xena and Velcro to something I can get at my work. I work at a petstore and we sell alot of different foods..... plus I can use my discount..lol. Ice, the 11 month old wasnt eating NB so he is staying on the food he is on for now.

Thank you, Jyl! I was just going to say, I use wag.com and such to get Earthborn Holistics to my house. They offer free shipping which ends up saving me money. After ordering from them for years, my local pet store started stocking Earthborn for me, which was very nice :)

I do understand wanting to purchase the food from your work, as I know my friends at the pet store get an employee discount which helps the cost for them.

I used TOTW in the past, but hated all of the recalls and how the kibble never looked uniform from batch to batch.

Jyl, what are your options at work? PM me if you don't want to say where you work on the forum. I have tried and researched almost all of the premium foods in my obsessive quest to educate puppy buyers and have tried most of them w/my older dogs as experiments. I spend a few hours most early mornings reading up on food topics. I'd be happy to give you my findings if you tell me what your options are.

Oh I may have missed that. I can understand it's easier plus you have a discount at work.
