Guddu,

Try soaking the kibble for about 10 minutes in HOT water. It will help. I soak my young male Ice's food. He eats so fast and soaking the food has really helped. I also add a probiotic (Acidaphilus) to both my dogs food once a day.  I am not big into supplements as I feel that if a dog is eating a good quality food they should not need alot of supplements. I do add Salmon oil as well.

As for Natural Balance, it once use to be a great food... not anymore.  I have noticed that once a company, like Natural Balance did, sells out to a big names corp like Del Monte usually the quality of the food goes down.

Why is it that every time I change dog foods, SOMEONE has something negative to say about the brand I've switched to? Really...it's uncanny!

I have a female GSD with food allergies. I switched to Zinpro, which did help, but still did not solve the problem 100%. Her allergies got SO bad over the course of the winter that she had to go in steroids for awhile. I also tried antahistamines, but they did not seem to help.

Since going to Natural Balance bison limited ingredient, I have noticed a marked improvement. Her nose has been an absolute mess due to the amout of chewing she does on herself. It has 2 gaping splits in it, and the sides of the leather are all rough and peeling. Well, I think I already see an improvement in it since the switch. She is definitely scratching less, and licking herself less.

However, the bags this food came in looked to have been around awhile, so maybe they were manufactured before the change-over. Sad Smile  WIll just have to wait and see. But it was nice not to have to shell out $70 for a bag of dog food!

As I said earlier, I agree with Jyl.  I stuck with NB since the buyout to see if there were any changes and everything was the fine with the dogs until my most recent bags bought about 2-3 weeks ago.  Basically they got constipated, which had never happened with prior bags of NB fish & potato LID.  I am assuming the previous bags were possibly from before the buyout and the current bags are Del Monte made.  Sadly I didn;t save the labels to confirm manufacture date.

When I buy my next bag, I will be watching very carefully for any changes. Mind, since I'm in Canada, the food may be made in a different plant, with slightly different ingredients. If anything, her stools have been a bit softer than they were before.

Another thing I noticed is that the LID diets from Natural Balance have gone from 28 # to 26#.. at least according the NB website...

Jyl, what does that mean? What's the NB website?

The numbers represent the weight of the bag?  I guess in Canada, I am more used to seeing it as lbs. (or kg., since we're semi-metric here!)

Sunsilver,

Yes the bags use to be 28 pounds and are now going down to 26 pounds.... as per the Natural Balance website. I have not seen the change in size yet at work...but we shall see in the next couple weeks when our deliveries come in each week.
