We are a group of friends here trying to start something in Jordan, a vet friend has some connections and might start a FCI branch here in future. We recently got this long coat puppy from Serbia, frankly speaking he is much better in conformation than all puppies we imported from Germany that cost us much more.

His back isn't that sloping in reality, ground is not level in the picture

I like the puppy a lot.

Its hard for me to understand the goals of the breeders of GSD's. In my original breed we all worked together to help one another get good breeding stock and a good start in the breed. Gave free stud service, leased out better bitches to others  for breeding. Placed the best puppies at no cost or a puppy back......Here we have responsible GSD lovers in Jordan who want to do the rigth thing and they can't ever find reasonably priced foundation stock. What is that all about? How does that attitude benefit the breed in the long run?

Blitzen, we have some of the best Arabian horses here in Jordan, NO ONE charges for stud services, all breeders are friends and support each other. If you breed Arabian horses it is a common thing to give a baby horse as a gift to a relative or a dear friend.

But also totell the whole truth, all Arabian horses breeders are rich people and do it for the love of the horse

Ibrahim, which type of activity would be more welcomed and draw more people in your country, shows or working dog venues? I would pick the one that has more potential because the bottom line is that the more people/members you have, the more resources you can muster, the more money involved, the more dogs that can be imported and the better bloodlines that you can breed there.

I know, Ibrahim. I just don't understand the reluctancy to help others get a good start in the breed. It really doesn't matter if the GSD breeder is rich or not. I am very sorry you and your friends are having such a difficult time finidng reasonably priced foundation stock. I wish I could help.

I agree Blitzen, we get by with a little help from oyr friends!

Ibrahim, next year, when I breed my Bomber girl, and have all them ducks in a row, I would be more than happy to give you a pup from her, you arrange and pay for shipping from NY.

And of course she will only be bred to a dog that is worthy of her, and the German Shepherd breed.

I would be more than happy to share a good dog with you, for 'the betterment of the breed'.

You can count on my word on this, I myself, DO breed, for the betterment....

Hired Dog,

That is the dilemma we have here, people want a beautiful dog but they want him to be strong, guard and protect. Beauty to them is black/red color and sloping back.

But when someone explains to them the capabilities of show vs work, those who need guard dog choose workline, and those who need only a companion for kids they go for a show line.

I think majority would prefer a medium drives work line or a show/work cross. I also noticed that females prefer show, males prefer work especially the young aged 15-40. As a matter of fact we need to have both. More people are gradually shifting towards work especially after understanding the differences. Many express their wish if they could have a show that can guard, I think if we could produce such a dog it would dominate the market.

Most people can not handle high driven dogs, they are not well educated and experienced to handle, train and work them. Most people need a guard dog for protecting property, at same time a companion for family.

Kitkat,

That is a very generous offer, thank you so much but I want to pay for it a reasonable price + shipping and you providing us a good quality puppy will be taken as a help to us. I will be waiting for the good news next year and I promise we will give it a super care and living here.

Every now and then we make "something like a show" and we offer critiques for fun, most people do not know anything about angulation, we get many questions later on from people who want to learn, some people get angry with us why their dog did not get as much praise as others. Some guys show their work line dogs jump, fetch and attack on order, and many who have showlines start making requests to train their dogs to do same, when they are told they might not be able to become as good they get so sad. Some people do not know yet there are two lines of GSD. Some people argue that workline is not a purebred GSD. We need a lot of effort to educate people about dogs and GSDs.
