All dog mushers keep their dogs as shown in one of Prager's photos above. None use individual kennels. Most of the bigger kennels have 100+ dogs.

If you want to learn how to tie a dog safely  then talk to mushers.

All I can ask is please don't leave your dog outside unattended.  I have heard so many stories about dogs hurting themselves while outside and the owner not keeping an eye on the dog.

When I first met my husband. he had a female chowchow.  I could never talk him out of chaining her up out in the back yard and then leaving to run errands.  It was one of our big arguments.  I was raised to never leave a dog outside without someone responsible keeping an eye on the dog.  One day while I was at work, he decided to chain her up outside while he ran errands.  A thunderstorm was approaching and she freaked out, jumped through the basement window, breaking it, cutting herself.  He came home to a her hanging dead about eye level.  It was a gruesome sight and she did not go easily.  He was devestated and has never ever left a dog outside unattended again.  It was a shame she paid the price for his belief a dog outside unattended is fine.

I have a neighbor that has an Argentine Dogo and he left him outside unattended while he ran to the store.  He has a 6ft fence around his back yard.  Apparently the dog slipped and fell into the empty in the ground pool and broke his leg.  A neighbor came home and heard whimpering and scratching sounds coming for my neighbor's back yard and called animal control (heat index that day was 109) dog is back home with a cast.  Again a dog pays the price for someone leaving a dog unattended.

Zen, if Prager hadn't posted those photos, I neve would have realized the sort of picket fence I had around the house I lived in previously could kill my dogs! Nor did I realized your standard suburban chain link fence could also be lethal, should a dog try to go under it and get stuck. Yikes!

Roll eyesYou are one in a million, SS. You or he still could make your own thread and you two can post strangled dogs in bad fences all day and all night long.

Only read this page and am not going to look at the offending pics.

the better apbt guys have the best tether systems going. double collars slip ring car axle in ground with bearing and stub axle that swivels with dog. igloo kennels that can't wrap chain up.

the sheep herders here drive stakes in the ground and run a heavy chain between them along the ground and tensioned. dogs are temporarily teathered alternately on a small light chain from the heavy ground chain. only for short durations while they want to confine the dogs movement safely. often see 14 - 20 kelpies and collies held this way to force rest them while out working on the big runs.

That's pretty much how mushers keep their dogs too. The sheepherders use what is known as a gangline. Mushers use ganglines when they are traveling with their dogs on a long trip. The dogs are fed and watered while tethered to the gangline and the fighters can be isolated from the rest of the team. Those dogs sleep tethered to the gangline.

You are one in a million, SS...

Really? Dayum!!

Thank you for the compliment!  Omg Smile

You wanna see gross? I can show you gross! I used to do very complex wound care as a nurse. Now, THAT'S gross! Those pictures bother me not at all. The photographers look like then went out of their way not to show any blood or guts, and the coyote looks to be still alive. To me, it's no worse than the dead animals I see killed on the roads every week. Yup, it bothers me, but I don't throw a fit over it.

Bully for you. Who is throwing a fit? I asked for decency, only. Seems there are warnings now at any rate.

PC kills. Offensive?! Give me a brake.   You are offensive with your ranting, and that you do not see through your hatred of me what I am trying to do. Which is .Save maybe just  one dog. You know what is offensive to me ? I tell you what is offensive to me . Offensive to me is  when dog dies because  people  did not know any better even so  I told them  in no uncertain terms not to chain a dog next to a fence even for short time as they claim they did. Short time my ass! It takes for the dog to die less then "short time"  you know. I told them, I was oh so gentle, LOL you would be proud of me.  But that was not good enough not MEMORABLE ENOUGH and because of that   they did not care and their - my dog died. They did not even have guts to get him off the fence. that how squemish and sensitive they were. Just like you!  I had to drive there 120 miles and take him down from a fence myself in middle of the hot night while listening to their little children cry. The dog I trained and loved for 3 years and sold to these people. Even so I told them, not to do what they were already doing and TOLD  them about what may happen if they continue  they still  allow the dog to die exactly the way I told them it may happen. Maybe if I would show them an  offensive picture or two of a  dog hanging dead on the fence my beloved dog would still live.

You  and your squeamish emotional   crap will not stop me to educate people about these tragedies in a way I see fit.  That is the most effective way i can. that is to shock these  idiots back into reality.  And you , you get of your high horse. Your pipsqueak posts will not stop me to try to save even just  one dog. Yes I want to scare piss out of people so that they NEVER  EVER, EVER FORGET WHAT I AM SAYING here.   I do it in name of my dog who died hanging on the fence down in Tucson.  Yes fence kills but,  PC kills more.   You should be ashamed of your self putting your thin sensitivities   in front of a welfare of an dog - any dog. You make me sick!  I can also tell you  of a dog covered by maggots which my neighbor found dead hanging  on his fence after he was gone for a day.  That is after I told him not to do it. Are you offended but that mental picture? Ask me if I care. Let me tell you of another dog of mine who almost drowned in a swimming pool and I got him out and have to give him CPR and he lived. thaks God.  Let me tell you about mu friend's dog- Golden retriever  who jumped into watering tank down on his ranch  in Mexico and he drowned dead. Offensive my ass....

 Enough said.

 Prager Hans.
