I entered my male in quite a few all breed shows a number of years ago, wanted to learn the 'ring thing' and it was educational for both of us..He never left the ring without a Reserve, but it got boring for me after a time, and we moved on to other things..It definitely was a learning experience tho:)

He will do well in UKC.

Yes i think he would do well in UKC. And UKC is more fun, family oriented and they offer more working type events. Where are you located?

I agree with 'Fry, he will do well in UKC, and it is much more fun and laid back than AKC, Ive done both and would pick UKC over AKC anyday!

Why not? All breed shows are a great deal of fun, they have always been an enjoyable event for my dogs and I, no matter how they place!  If nothing else, its GREAT people/dog watching and they usually have some awesome booths to get some awesome doggie goodies (mine are enjoying the great big bag of freeze dried beef lungs and the beef tendons we brought home from this past weekend!).  If you are considering only one day, google the judges and choose the one who would be most favorable towards a more moderate type.  Your boy is a very nice dog!  So go and have fun!

Don't waste your time and money entering your dog in a AKC breed show.  Besides the fact you stand zero chance of coming out of it with any place other than last, it will most likely be a horrible experience for you as the other exhibitors and judge probably will treat you like dirt. I don't know about you, but I don't feel the need to pay people to treat me badly.

A bunch of my friends with WL dogs entered a GSD specialty recently, and while they didn't win, it was a good experience. The people were very nice and helpful, they gave a handlers lesson since my friends had never shown. If you go with a good attitude and realistic expectations, you might have a good time and show people that you have a great representative of the breed.

The way people are talking sounds expensive. out of curiosity what would be a typical expenditure for a day at the show excluding transport and accommodation?

i say go for it just for the dog socialisation and ring experience, gotta be great training repercussions.

better yet lets have our own pdb on line dog show. hell there are enough experienced legit people here to judge. just agree on the video format ie 2minute clips of everyone doing the same routine based on akc format except with a single dog in the "ring".

Winner gets bragging rights and a free pdb t-shirt with shipping.

Who's up for it. let Ibrahim be the judge.
