Whatever you have bred, what criteria did you use then to qualify a dog as suitable for breeding?

by Blitzen on 07 July 2014 - 16:07

Well since that was 24 years ago and a breed you're probably not familar with, I'm not sure how what and why I bred then pertains to this thread.

Because just as you are curious as to what and how people breed, I am also curious as to what you have used as a breeding criterion. As far as the breed, I am guessing its a big secret and only "I" know if I am familiar with it or not...

If anyone with showlines or part showline GSD's are interested in responding to the initial post in this thread, please PM me here. We are working on a project that could help the breed in the US in the future and would welcome input from those who show and breed showlines, both American and German.  We are interested in which health checks you think are important as well as the performance venues, IPO, etc you use to test you dogs' breed worthiness.  Thanks......

the answer to breed worthiness is a meaniful breed survey. no arguement here that  there are bad survey judges, and bad dogs passing. If the ideal is followed [ Korung] the breed will benefit.

Blitzen, why do you avoid answering any questions asked to you by anyone? How is anyone supposed to take you seriously when you either refuse to answer or go around questions that YOU want answers to?

by gsdstudent on 07 July 2014 - 16:07

blitzen; your criteria of show lines betterment is the first poor  point. What will improve the GSD? In the breed survey each dog must have one evaluation in conformation of good or better. Showing is a part of the survey, not the quest.

why not just use the orginal blue print. von S. laid it out pretty clearly. no one has improved on it 100+ years.

by Blitzen on 07 July 2014 - 16:07

PS: I wanted to add that we would also like to learn if you use minimum criteria for deciding breed worthiness? Thanks.

by gsdstudent on 07 July 2014 - 16:07

minimum requirements?  AKC papers. Same breed and opposite sex will get you papered offspring. blitzen you made a statement against a kennel in Pa. what did they do wrong? let's start from there.
