I've been on and off here for quite a while and this board has had it's moments forever.  Every board does.  I don't care if you're on a parenting forum, a car talk forum, a dog forum, a hunting forum, photography, etc.  If people are allowed to speak what they think, you're going to have some rather spiritied exchanges.  This one is hardly unique.  I much prefer this over the heavily moderated, don't say anything bad about anything because we all live in a kumbya fantasy land and fart unicorns, that some try to maintain.  or the ones started to pimp their kennels and get more puppy sales.

At least on here, I can see what is garbage and what is good.  Newbies on other boards are fed so much shit, they think they're eating steak because nobody is allowed to step out of line.  and then the garbage gets perptuated on and on and on till they all actually believe it.  I don't really care if someone makes disparaging remarks about me or what I think.  Maybe they're right and I need to do a bit of self reflection, maybe they're just an asshole and I should move on.  Either way i'm well equipped to handle the situation.  I don't need someone coming along and telling me what I should be offended by and what I should think is acceptable behavior, i can figure it out for myself thank you.  and if I can't, maybe I need to acquire more life skills.

It's not so much the message as it is the manner in which its delivered.

Agree with your post   As of my posting.

That might be a world record. People hardly ever take a stand here. Mostly voyerism.

The agree and disagree button is the tool for civility. Have a voice, use it.  Stop using it as means to fortify cliques, current use, and agree or disagree with the comment as posted, even if its the mean nasty percieved person with a comment you agree with. How many here will not agree with comment from someone they dont like?

When you see a perceived lack of civility and respect take a stand. Pop in and say hey your out of line bud and also hit the dislike. If people are honest and fair and then choose, disagreement will be allowed to flourish and sheer disrespect will leave.

Its the board members own fault the board is like this, hit a button take a stand and dont a victim or allow horrible behavior, like minded should jump in with you.

Let the dislikes roll :)~

So you're the daddy of pdb, giving a lecture as to how you expect everyone to use this forum? Really? How do feel about posters consistently hitting thumbs up for their own posts? You're calling all the thousands of viewers of this forum, worldwide, voyeurs? Nice....

by joanro on 24 July 2014 - 17:07

Blitzen, are you doing thums up for the delete? Lol....in that case, me too.

I am one who is very passionate about the breed, and have very strong opinions.....that being said, I try to always be courteous and never call people or dogs malicious names. I try to primarily base my posts on facts and my experience, and never in a mean spirited way. I think this is respectful, yet I seldom post anymore because this forum has gotten so PC, that warm and fuzzy is more valued than truth. Susie, I appreciate what your OP is trying to achieve, but I really think that as long as frank discussions that can address Good and BAD about the breed are going to be discouraged, then a wealth of knowledge is going to be lacking.....and this is sad for the forum and the breed. The world isn't warm and fuzzy, and neither is the breed....but either way people should be respectful.

susie inspiring idea, great "speech", hats of for having balls to say it...unfortunately if those who are posting here don't see anything wrong with their posts in threads that you're referring to, you will never cure the problem...... its funny but some names on here were the same people in those discussions and participated in egging others on..."kettle calling pot black"....

It did sound pretty preachy, not the intent. Sorry

I was as guilty of picking and choosing comments as well only from like minded people in the same camp in discussions that were near or dear to me as well. I realized it only furthers the clique or separation of camps and the vitriol. Never seems to benefit the topic being debated or discussed, it was my personal observation regarding me, I changed that policy. I should have stated that. I know i am not the only one guilty of that, as I posted above.

I didn't like the Peyton place (I think bee called it), I posted

susie does not like the dis respect, see posted, Cleaner and clearer, I might ad.

The bottom line for me is nothing changes until you step in and help change things.

Probably just should have said that, Clean and clear! :)~
