According to the wording of the new standard, those colour will still be considered serious faults, so the chances of that happening are slim indeed!

Right??

I can understand white being recognized, because it was at one time, but never blue or liver.

The motion might stand a chance of passing if it was limited to white, but I don't think too many people are going to agree blues and livers should be allowed in the show ring.

JMO, though....

Blitzen I imagine the procedure for changing the standard is similar (if not the same) in Canada, but I dropped my GSDCA membership after only one year, after it became obvious Star was not show quality. So, I am not really up on the doings of the breed club, though I do hear the odd thing second-hand through people who are.

One the best reasons for anyone who breeds and owns GSD's to join the GSDCA is to have a voice in proposed standard revisions. You don't need to like ASL's to understand how a standard revision impacts every GSD owner in the US.

The blue and liver coats aren't disqualifying faults in the GSD breed standard. The colors are a serious fault. The change in regards to coat color would only affect the whites, moving them from a disqualifying to a serious fault. :)

Blitzen, doesn't affect me.  I only follow the FCI (World) Standard.  The USA one is pretty useless to me.

I do like these white dogs though.  Nice looking and they work too!

AKC breed standard changes have a direct effect on anyone in the US who breeds to that standard.  I understand that those who don't have no dog in the fight.

USCA, WDA, Now GSDCA, DVG, RSV2000 and FCI trials that other breeds such as Malinois can host.

Don't forget breeds like Dobermanns, Rottweilers, Giant Schnauzer, Hoverwarts etc.

All these breeds use the IPO working title as well.

I get that, but which organizations issue the titles, who approves the judges, who generates the rules? None of it is connected to the SV in any way? It is a club specific IPO title then?

FCI > VDH > SV

FCI is the umbrella, VDH (German Kennel Club) is member of the FCI and the SV is a member of the VDH.

Every breed club is a member of the VDH and FCI.

The breed clubs themselves will issue helpers, trials, etc.

And then you have rules from the VDH who is holding trials too and FCI rules and whatnot.

Blitzen, the IPO titles are FCI titles, not SV titles. In former times we  ( SV, and all the other German clubs ) had the SchH trials, and IPO was slightly different.
This didn´t make sense any longer ( globalisation ) - so the SchH title vanished to the benefit of the IPO titles. All working clubs and breed clubs who are member of FCI are using the same rule book now ( some countries using exceptions because of federal law within their country like Swiss ).

Well, SchH became VPG and then IPO... back then you had SchH and IPO and now it's only IPO titles.

The FCI is the umbrella under which the VDH operates and under the VDH you've got the breed clubs.
