Let this be a learning topic

TP do you think you can expain further why you think there is no guarding so that others may see what you see.

Pay attention how the dog barks, the intensity... There is no power in the guarding.

Entry in the courage test is nice, grip is nice... but where's the guarding, where's the possessiveness?

Also, the grip right after the guarding does not reflect power, IMO.

I see a well trained dog with some nice drives, but lacking power and aggression.

In order to have strong guarding, a dog needs a certain amount of sharpness... I'd like to see more possessiveness and dominance displayed. Please note that I have not seen this dog in person, my opinion derives only from this video.

This is more up my alley:

I see Ranger as a very high prey drive dog, hence the high pitched voice and leaking between elements. But I see a strong dog demonstrated in his power in the bite on the leg since he nearly tipped the decoy over. Would be nice to see more to make an accurate assessment. Fact is, he was good enough to qualify, but not as serious as his sister.

It's not physical power I am talking about.

I understand what you're saying, but not comparing the dog in your video with this dog. The dog in your vid is not being tested in the same manner, being different venue.

@ WLSGD you have no idea where you talking about

The training  between KNPV and IPO is very different

(I have no sense in discussion because most of the people on this forum have never trained in KNPV with dogs)

I know Ranger I have worked with him as a decoy in KNPV  the dog has good powerfull grips and good atention

for guarding. It is not a hard dominant aggresive dog but he,s doing well, maybe its not your type of dog

And remember you have only seen  a small part from the dog on video  , .........................

Blackmalinois, thank you for coming here and sharing your experience with Ranger. Do you know his sister, Rayka ? If KNPV was in this country, I would definately train my dogs in it.

@Joanro

I have seen his sister Rayka but not worked with the dog  myself.

Opinions from dogs is very different and personal what  is good or what  is not good..........Wink Smile

TP, the dog in your video is deffinately possessive...soon as the sleeve is slipped, he forgets all about the decoy and runs off the field with the sleeve. :-)
