Ugh, how stupid! I wasn't aware of any fees. I'm sorry. I don't really know how all this works, to be honest. I read it briefly and it looked ok; it could be because it's a foreign transaction. Do you want to try my paypal? Friends and family? That should work...I'll PM you. And if not, thanks for trying, anyway.

Jenni, this may sound stupid, and I know it's a long shot, but it would be worth sending a PM via facebook to Martha Stewart, since she's a Friesian lover herself.

Couldn't hurt....

I want to clarify something for those who don't know and may be wondering....

I got a comment about "why donate to someone who owns a FRIESIAN?" And you know what, it's a valid question. Let me explain....

I bought him as a baby, when they aren't nearly as expensive. He turned out much better than anyone could have hoped. When I bought him, I had a job- a pretty good job. I didn't owe anyone anything! I paid cash for him. Many things have changed since then, none for the better. This is a horse I have had for 6 years, not something I went out and bought 6 months ago that I couldn't afford. I would never ask if there was any possible way I could manage this myself- NEVER. I am sincerely grateful and want everyone who donated to understand that this horse WILL DIE if I can't do this; this isn't a case where only minor inconvenience will be suffered and this cannot be put off, hence the urgency of gathering funds.

Hexe, I never knew that! Sure, why not? Thanks for the idea.

Jen, she HAS Friesians herself, often featuring them in her various 'holiday on the farm' themed TV episodes and specials she's done...and they live better than the wealthiest of people, too. Her three animal loves are Friesians, Chow Chows and French Bulldogs.  I figure maybe you'll reach that soft spot she has for them. All she can do is say 'No', or not even acknowledge the message, but there's always that slight chance...

I posted on her page; no option to message that I saw. It can't hurt, right?

I have someone who offered visit him tomorrow since I can't. This animal network is amazing. Such kindness from strangers.

Will my donors get charged any fees?

No, never. Other sites might charge your donors without you knowing it, but we would never do that. Donors are charged only the amount they choose to donate to you and that's it.

Lanhua, it had to do with exchange rate. We figured it out. Thanks!

Postive update- he is in recovery. Got out of surgery around 10:00. Now to keep him from foundering.

Jenni - that is good to hear and hope recovery goes well. Will the vet work with you for a payment schedule? When I worked at a vet's, the Dr. often accommodated people's request for payment schedules to work within their abilities to pay following major surgery.

Hexe, just wondering if you have heard of horses colicking or getting obstructions following worming? My former landlady is convinced it was the wormer that caused her horse to obstruct.
