Jenni... So sorry to hear what you are going through, but relieved to see that your boy is pulling through.

In regards to the wormer situtation, would diatomaceous earth be an option?  Keep in mind that I know nothing about horses, so I only know that DE works on dogs and other livestock for internal parasites that have become resistant to chemical wormers.

Praying for a full recovery.

Yes, he used to be on DE. Partly my fault he wasn't anymore. I'm not there with him and it makes it harder to remember to keep supplements and such ordered. Though, with a horse, you need a pretty large volume of DE per meal. There is a lot of debate whether it does anything at all...and no real studies to guarantee everyone used it the same, etc. But, it can't hurt, really. The only thing he had were tapes, so it's entirely possible and it's just as the vet said; there is a huge resistance problem in tapes in that particular locale. I'm really trying to find a way to bring him closer to home again.

If anyone knows anyone with space (doesn't have to be fancy; he has no idea he is! :) ) for a sweet stallion in the Chicago general vicinity, shoot me a message.

I don't want to type this. Typing this makes it too real. He is gone.

He threw a blood clot and ruptured part of his bowel. I wasn't there for him.

Somewhere in time's own space,
There must be some sweet pastured place.
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow,
Some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen,
I know great horses live again.
