FOUNDATION DOG Johnson's Dick the Bruiser by BWK on 01 March 2008 - 06:03

 From the comments Section...
John D. Johnson purchased Dick the Bruiser around 1956 or 57. He bought him from Harold Lassiter on Big Sand Mountain in Alabama. He was a catch dog and one of his all time favorites. Bruiser has no known back ground or pedigree however Johnson made one up to be able to reg. him with NKC. Bruiser was a respectable 75-85 lb. bulldog. And a great inspiration to the breed. Although Dick the Bruiser was used in Mr. Johnson's breeding program, Mr. Alan Scott also used him in his breeding program, we find that Mr. Alan Scott found his perfect American Bulldog in Ch. Gr. Ch. Scott's Dixieman "Buster" a son of Dick the Bruiser.

Every breed has a foundation point.Chances are LAssiater know how old the dog was or when it was born.

And Johnson was well known for just makign stuff up, he was the AB's biggest dog peddler in the history of the breed.
