Gustav.....PM'ing you

Smiley, as you seek your stud, be sure that stud is genetically complimentary to your female. So that breeding will bring balance from both parents to pups.
Good luck in your choice.

Yeah I suppose he is 'old school' now, at least to the extent that toplines in the German dogs have become more curved - although I could stand him up to look more like that ! He was a little too tall (and overshot !), but his hips were good and he was quite energetic and 'drivey', I think he might have done OK 'for a Showline' if I'd done IPO with him. Good ancestry, with all those Siegers and double Seigers, and UK Champions, behind him - for what that is all worth; personally I did not much care for the degree of linebreeding on Uran. I took him on at 17 months, as he was 'backed' to the breeder by his first home. He was never Shown, obviously, nor was he bred from.

Linda.

Thanks so much, Susie!!!

On another note........I did contact a West GSL breeder (who I will not name so please don't ask) and she said they will not mix lines so would not breed to my GWL bitch. Now, I do understand where they are coming from even though I don't agree with their viewpoint.

However, my fear is that if we all stay in our boxes than we are all going to breed ourselves into a corner. I was sad not to have a chance at the bloodlines. If breeders never outcross than there WILL come a time when they will get genetically stuck. As far as I can tell, all great breeders utilized outcross breeding. They outcrossed and then brought that outcrossed puppy back into their bloodlines. Strategic outcross breeding seems just as important as strategic line breeding...especially for improving the health of the breed and overall vigor or correcting deficiencies. Any thoughts?

I'd check out Southernwind. I used their male Waiko on my GCH AmLine bitch. He stayed with me for a little bit. Nice dog, great work (worked him myself), stable, sound, social.

Being denied an opportunity to use a SL should be seen as a blessing in no so much disguise. If I were you I would thank them

Not the least bit helpful or on topic. Do not make this a bash thread. Everyone has the right to like what they do and not get nasty comments about it. Western Rider
