Actually, I think I just saw in my recent USA magazine that Rex is in Oklahoma now. I agree with Olga, AI is involved. Then you have the cost of the stud fee, the vet bills etc. Since this is a maiden bitch, agian it would be nice to breed within driving distance of you and do a natural breeding. Otherwise, you have to ship to and back. Then if she doesn't take, most contracts allow a breed back her next heat, then you ship again. Just check around on the east coast, look for a V-rated male, KKL1 working male, look for a dog that compliments your bitch physically, temperament, drives. It might be nice to go to a dog that goes to Gildo Korbelbach. Don't just concentrate on increasing her drive, remember to go for the entire package. It sounds like you have time to look, so continue the search and choose carefully in your area.

V - Xito v d Maineiche, SchH3, KKL1 - in Maryland...all black, all working lines, with direct male line to VA Marko Cellarland - pedigree has of BSP and BSZP dogs. Produces high drive, solid nerves, and good structure. I have a nearly 3 year old Xito son who is 100% working lines, and received an "excellent" critique from Koermeister Wilfred Scheld last summer prior to being titled. He will be koered this year if Herr Scheld is on the east coast at all. Lesley, you can contact me privately by clicking on my 'name' for more info.

Brittany, have you ever seen any Belschik progeny in person? I find it odd you champion him so much. I bred to Belschik last summer and got 2 live puppies via c-section. She was a maiden bitch and was inseminated via fresh semen AI. It was not a cheap ordeal at all. I am happy with the pups thus far, but again, I would NOT breed a maiden female to a stud via frozen semen for that kind of money. Too many variables. I didn't have to pay the stud fee (which was 500 at the time) but more than paid for it in the end. No dog is a cure all. He HAS produced very well, but AI technology is not cheap at all (For me, FRESH, it ran close to 2000 by the time all testing and travel was done, then I had a C-section on top of it!) Not to mention, his spunk is on ice... It isn't going anywhere! Breed her to a live-cover dog FIRST, then if she is a good mother and the pups are nice and you REALLY want to, go the expensive route. As a side note in a litter born before mine via Frozen AI the bitch free whelped 7 pups with 5 survivors, so I just happened to be 'lucky' (bad luck is still luck) and got a very small litter.

Xito is very nice.. There's also Dino Maineiche on the east coast I think, although I haven't heard about his progeny. You have quite a few good dogs to choose from on that side of the country.

I would second Kougar's recommendation on Xito - I have seen her male and he is a very stable and open dog. I look forward to seeing how he continues as he is doing well. I will also add this dog: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/125865.html Will be shown in the working class again to get his V rating, as he was not trained in the ring prior to his koer.

I agree with Sabre. If you need a conformation line with preserved working, go with somebody that goes back to Mutz line. This goes up to Cello ROmerau line, maybe thru Eros Luissenstrasse (my preference). There are several studs here in America. I am a big fan of Triumph's Gucci. If you are willing to pay $2500 for Belschik, Gucci is I think $1200. The owner is benevolent. She keeps your female without extra charge, sometimes up to 1 week even. She picks the dog up and drops her off in the airport without extra charge. Guaranteed and helps you sell your pups.Check http://www.whirlingthunder.com. What area are you from Lesley? Roger.

I would not recommend going back on Aly or Troll (as mentioned, you might get some small dogs). Kougar's recommendation of Xito is a good one, I liked the looks of that personally. The one that Sue mentioned would be one that I personally might go ahead and do as well, even with the linbreeding on Troll (because Troll isn't in the direct sire line), he's got a very strong pedigree that I like the looks of (and it's hard to beat OFA Excellent and OFEL Normal). Sue, is this your husband's competition dog that you'd mentioned before? If so, we might need to talk

Yes, I do have Camp v. Muhlteich standing at stud. He is a magnificent dog, and his pedigree and working credentials speak clearly. I will have to disagree with those regarding the smallness of Aly progeny. Camp is a very large, substantial male and he is reproducing this in his progeny. His structure is very correct, and he will put bone in the breeding. I have been using him with both show lines and working lines, and he is producing his type in all lines. This dog doesn't work because he has to, he works because he wants to.... I will not saying that he is the solve-all, one-and-only, but, for a person wanting to improve or keep structure and add drive, he is a very good choice. For breeding information and requirements, I can be contacted privately.
