OK- thanks Bling. Just thought it  might help. We have saved 4 dogs in about 3 days !!!! Thats pretty good for a start up group, isnt it !!!:) I am so proud of the people on this board! Sarge would have gone down, for sure, with his history. He is being pulled this morning by someone who will foster him until his neuter, next Thursday, and until tranpsort can be arranged. Did you see this handsome boy in the other thread? I feel so good that he will now have a life, instead of being shoved into a gas chamber!!!

I love the map idea, I'm a very visual person and it's much more engaging to view a map than look at a list of addresses.
But I think rescue would need multiple maps.
One for transport routes; by professional profit transporters, professional rescue transporters and individual transporters.  Perhaps transport route lines can be color-coded and linked to the tranporter's information.

Another map of the pounds/shelters where dogs should be rescued from...so people who are interested in getting involved can see if there is something near them that they can monitor.  These should be color-coded too, with the most urgent hi-kill shelters being red.

and a third map for the rescues that take dogs (and manage adoptions)

Marjorie, I agree with you that PDB would absolutely be the best place to have the rescue forum.  I was just talking about a website that can give additional resources.  Perhaps host the maps and assist with coordinating and where people can go to donate for rescue efforts.
It's partially an SEO thing, more quality, relevant linking, bigger presence on the web...draws even more people.
Many people are interested in helping with rescue, but may not know where to start or who to start with.  Could provide them with options and how-to guides for each way they could help (foster, adopt, donate/sponser, transport, lay-overs, training, coordinators, fund-raisers, PR, etc.)
So many folks don't get involved just because they weren't provided with clear, concise information.

I have read a few posts that have been deleted and I must say at this time we are not going to allow any signature links. I will revisit this with Oli and the other admins over the next few weeks but at this time no signature links are allowed. Sorry, in the name of fairness we just can't allow them at this moment.

I also want you all to know that I am working on these ideas and hope to have something in place in the next week or 2. Please be patient as we work to give you what you are asking for. Also, please hold off on making other webs until you see what we can offer and then go from there.

Count me in. Just north of Atlanta, GA. I have a 4 dog trailer so can help with transports. We also have a small kennel so may be able to house dogs while waiting for a foster? Not sure how else I can help, but will do what I can. I have a special place in my heart for the seniors who get dumped and would love to help.

We are available in the Austin area.  Just welcomed two new friends who were abandoned by their owner after nine years!  Please add us to the list of volunteers.
