My now 9 month old (show line) puppy still has loose hocks. At her last show 2 weeks ago she was badly penalised and placed last in her class, the judge stating her hocks as the reason for her placement.
No she is NOT a hock walker, they are just not as firm as they should be.

I am fully aware that swimming and beach walks would be the ideal exercise for her but I am 2 hours away from the nearest beach and she is not too keen on swimming in the dam ( but it is winter here )
I do have a very large indoor exercise area with a 3 inch thick fine pea gravel floor, could this area substitue for the beach exercise?

If anyone has any good advise I would really appreciate hearing from you.

wait for another2-3 months.  most of the dogs who are having weak /loose hocks dramatically gain muscular strength around 12 months of age.  Don't give her long walk but let her play freely for say around 10 minutes or so.  similar was the case with my gsd bitch who is now perfectly normal.  so hopefully, you will also get positve results.

She is fed a kangaroo based kibble in the mornings with either yoghurt or an egg added, an afternoon meaty beef or lamb bone and night time she has raw.

At the moment she has am and evening walk and they take approx 20 minutes and during the day she has long periods of freedom, probably too much freedom !!!!!!

When we are doing show training she pulls like crazy ( really pushing hard with her powerful hind quarters) so I am stopping this for a while and just concentrate on obedience for now.

 I have noticed that  judges seem to be really clamping down on loose hocks now, after several years of ignoring this problem.  But almost certainly your dog will improve as she matures.  Some people believe that supplements containing glucosamine and chondroitin can help to strengthen weak ligaments - I don't know but it would probably do no harm to try.
