I was looking for a dog a while back, but had to put my search on hold due to health issues in our family. Anyway, I will pass onto you the advice I got here on this board.  Here is what I was told: Yes, there are plenty of reputable, honest kennels in Germany, but trying  to find something here in the US makes a lot more sense. Why buy a dog or pup overseas, sight unseen when there are plenty of nice dogs & pups here in the US? The cost of shipping from Europe is a lot more expensive than shipping within the US. What are you going to do if you're not happy? Yes, there is also a possibility you may not be happy with a dog that you purchase here in the US too, but your chances of resolving it are a little better- at least there isn't a language barrier. Also, I personally wouldn't buy a dog unless I could see it in person. If you do find a dog/pup that you like, either here in the US or overseas, ask those on this board if they know anything about the breeder/kennel, good or bad and you'll get feedback. Oh, read the purchase contract and guarantee VERY carfefully. If your not sure of something, pass it by the people here. Do your homework. I hope this helps.
Best of luck to your in your search.

There is the possibility of a scam no matter from where.  I've bought two very nice dogs through ads on PDB.   One from Germany, one from the Netherlands.

Personally, I would NEVER buy a dog sight unseen. You can't evaluate a dog's movement or temperment from a picture. Sure, there are videos, but having read so many stories about scams, I'd be too nervous to do it even then. Have heard of numerous cases where the puppy that was shipped wasn't the one the buyer thought he was getting!

If I absolutely HAD to, I would have someone I trusted do the purchase, after doing a hands-on evaluation.

I listed my puppies on the database.

As with any venue in which to purchase a dog, you have to carefully research, or have only yourself to blame.
