Apparently this video was edited to show only the negative portions of an otherwise positive training day.  Personally, my dogs made tremendous progress under the tutelege of Steve House and I would train again with him in a heartbeat if he was in my area.

What was lacking from those videos, were all of the after parties, social gatherings, meals, and friendly, fun banter and chatter that those very same people have after every training session, including the person who posted the video on youtube. That was clearly a pathetic attempt to bring negative publicity to someone. It is very sad that the person who posted that video actually achieved a lot of progress and success under Steve House and then decided that she would rather attempt to badmouth him. Sad indeed. While Steve's personality is not for everyone, (whose is?) Anyone who has or does train with him knows beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he gives 100% of himself for every person and every dog EVERY time,, no matter if you are headed for the nationals or a local club trial for a BH. If the handlers give that much effort, they WILL be successful. I love his passion and dedication to each dog and handler team. I love that he feels our nervousness when we trial and is our biggest cheerleader on the sideline. I love that he is always just a phone call away whenever one of his people has a question or concern. I don't know really what the reason or motivation is for this honestly. I hope she (or they) get the help that is needed. Theresa

How come it says Private on the video..I did click on it...but cannot even get it started????

I cannot see video but I can testify great trainers all over the USA that I personally have stood by and been around do talk a lot of the same "lingo " some of us do not use..

I can name 4 right off the bat

SO this is not against whoever Steve in the video is but It can be said, the 4 I know, are top and terrific dog and K9 trainers.. I am sure there are many more...

One I know personally has always said like Keith posted..I have no time for people who are not serious and if they are not ready to get it done, and cannot take the heat, get out of the kitchen......and he was winner of USA National championships several times...so even though I cringe, it takes me putting a plug in my ears and keep the dog training in the main slot and not the Talk>

I couldn't see the video. But can't imagine it's any worst than the average talk during trainers with a lot of top trainers.
Did see this video of Steve House though - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw1SIscRjV0
He looks to be a good helper / trainer & people would be lucky to work with him. I wish we had more quality helpers like this in my area.

Training issues are almost always a problem with the owner/handler rather than the dog.  Steve recognizes this so while he may seem a little harsh at times, I have never known him to be unfair to any dog.  On the other hand, I've known trainers who were as polite as could be to the people with whom they train but are downright abusive to the dogs themselves.  As in all things, you decide which you'd prefer.

I would rather have the trainer talk to me like that to my face rather then be all sweetness and light and then do a number behind me on my back.

I don't know Steve but I think it's safe to say what you see if what you get and I respect that.

And I would think that his personality would be apparent the first training session and if his style is not a mesh with yours you should move on.

He was one of the helpers at NASS 2011 in VA.

Good trainer, helper, or whatever there is no reason to talk like that.

I can only hope the video is private because I called the videographer and informed her I did not authorize her to edit and post any video of me on any public website.  Those videos were for training and private club viewing only and I will not be a part of anyone's vendetta.   For those of you who saw the video, I am the handler with a black and tan working line dog, and I'll say it, Steve was in my ass because instead of asking questions and getting BIT, he needed me to continue what I was doing WITHOUT question.  I have NO PROBLEM with Steve's training methods.  I do have the OPTION of training with other helpers who compete on the National and World level, but you know what, I don't have to because I have the best trainer for ME and MY DOGS and I train 3 dogs EVERY training weekend.  Not for the faint of heart.

What the video doesn't show either is the videographers training sessions.  She was advised to train with Steve, because if "anyone could train you and your dog, it's Steve".   I witnessed many training sessions where Steve literally held his mouth shut instead of saying what was on the tip of his tongue.
Funny how vindictive she is now that her dog has his BH (congrats to both of you, btw), due to training with Steve House. HHHMMM

From 8 weeks to first attempt at SchH1 all 3 phases under Steve's mentorship and guidance...my show bitch, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGZW-aeP02I

While I don't mind a trainer or helper being hard on me or even yelling at me, if/when needed. There is absolutley no reason to use vulgar language. There are plenty of ways to get a point across strongly w/o profanity. I do not care how "GREAT" anyone is. I never will/would tolerate anyone talking to me like that. Total lack of respect for anyone other than himself.
