A dog in a car has nowhere to go. Flight isn't an option.

True...that is why most dogs that fail in PSA do so on the scenario immdeiately after the carjack....the attack on handler from hiding...they carry over the stress from the carjack and now have an option to flee.

then would the 'table' training be the same as the inside of a car.. ??  I have seen this training go terribly wrong and 'blow' a dogs mind and he was then useless. it was horrible to watch..! like torture.. but then it worked with other dogs...

Duke... you are seriously mistaken. I can tell you first hand if you kicked in the door with wusv competitor bond vom reddighauser land on the other side you are going to have a very bad day. :) same goes for my old lga competitor fels von der schopf and a club members anteras zu treuen handen. A bastin kokeltal son. Super fight drive in these dogs. And I forgot to mention karo vom zeurtner himmelreich. All schutzhund trained and at high levels with the exception of anteras who was a schH1 Ps... don't stare at them :) I see way too many people on this place fooled into thinking dogsthat compete at high levels are nothing more than high prey point dogs with no real bacbone to them. Sure many are just that but there are also some tough f***ers that compete at high levels a few even make the podium. One dog I like right now is dusty van tiekerhook. The real issue here is most people do not have the skill, experience "the right support group, helpers or time. To get dogs like this to high level competition. Duke.... I really don't see how your horse analogy fits in here but I have one for you. The farmer who owns the land I track on owns a bull cow that will flat out trample you and give you the horn. Did the farmer teach him this or is it just his nature ? I stand by my statement that true protection dogs are born not made. You can not teach a dog to "stay in in the fight" when the going gets rough.

Eisenhaus, my dog gives SchH a bad name. Lol.

by Gustav on 21 July 2012 - 04:07

Sure there are high level and low level Sch dogs that are serious and real!! I haven't heard anyone say there aren't....but there are plenty of them that aren't....that's all people are saying. You can't just select the Sch dogs that are real and say they reflect Sch...you have to include the nonreal dogs in the equation also. That's all....people shouldn't falsely believe that Sch is prep for PP.....and some people believe that. Depends on the dog and the training....that's all I hear people saying.

Gus, I'd agree. 89.37465% are garbage to me.

Lol @ chaz. The most difficult training training anteras had to be worked through in his schutzhund training was the tattoo/microchip check. Lmao
