Tell me how PDB could help?  I am making no promises but am interested in ideas of how this site could help.

I'm in Lexington NC and have a soft spot for rescues. I've helped out in and held/trained while transport and a permanent
foster were set up. I'm totally in. Training and proper evaluation would be conduted on any doggers coming through here.
If any have good working drive, I know of a few PDs who are on financial lockdown and their dogs are past retirement age
but don't have the means to purchase another. I know they  would jump at the idea of a donated dog, or very low cost one if
that is something that would interest you also.

Melissa would those departments be interested in a puppy? Reason I asked I may have a puppy after the first of the year. I mean sure I know they would prefer an older dog but I have no older dogs that would either work or I would be willing to part with. But I would be interested in donating a drivey confident puppy. Next question how does that work when you donate one regarding getting it there?
Marjorie my email is vonissk@yahoo.com. Make a note of it and when you have anything you would like me to post let me know and I can add the page and get it going. Also when you do email me please send the contact info and location of the dog. If you have anything to post now, it will be Friday. I hav e school tomorrow and several errands to run after that.
And Starrcharr I agree with you. When I first met my mentor she had an older dog on her site for adoption--he had belonged to an older lady and she died and poor Chuckie had no place to go but to be PTS. She stepped in--never got him adopted but at least he got to live his life out in a home. Anyway that told me a lot about her and I thought it was awesome of her.

In 1998 am email group of Miniature Pinscher lovers stepped up to save one dog, from that point they founded on of the best organized rescue groups I have ever seen.  The group named IMPS for Internet Miniature Pinscher Services http://www.minpinrescue.org/ covers the entire US  and rescues countless dogs.  We can do the same thing for the German Shepherd if we all work together.

I dont think that Oli can 501c3 as he isn't here in the states. You would have to find someone to initiate then follow the rules of their state. In my state I have to become an INC, have board members, meetings etc. If I remember right the IRS requires INC over LLC. Then there is that pesky $750.00 fee you have to pay with your 10+ page application. By laws and Mission statement. Thats why when i had my rescue I didnt 501c3. It was easier just to pay taxes.
