Runag

Hi Wanda,

funnily enough, I was watching him earlier on today doing just that, although he is really putting the dog on its side - it is called the Alpha Roll.     Hope this link works.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR6w1FL8NXc  I was not critisizing him or disagreeing with his methods - just saying he gets lots of telly coverage and it would be dangerous if inexperienced people tried to emulate him.  The clip is quite interesting.
Sorry, it is in a foreign language - well foreign to me anyway but I am sure you can get the gist of it.

I am not a fan nor do I dislike him and his methods. I don't doubt that he knows a lot but I think I'm just not a fan of the type of media that surrounds him. I read an article somewhere (not sure if it is 100% true) but the actress, Eva Mendez, was recommended a mali for personal protection but had absolutely no idea about the breed - didn't even know the breed had existed prior to the recommendation. Needless to say, that mali walked all over her and so she sought Cesar's help because he was the "dog whisperer."

He did end up helping her, but I felt that the article really glorified him to be an amazing dog mind reader or something where in actuality, Eva Mendez just needed to read up on the breed and actually learn how to handle the breed herself instead of immediately thinking that the issue was with the dog. But then again, I guess she has the money so why not? In short, nothing against the guy - I just don't like how some not dog-saavy people immediately assume the animal is the problem and need the "dog whisperer" to come diagnose their dog and fix the issue.

Runag - Did you watch the link all the way through?  After about the 5 1/2 minute mark, the presentation (right word?) cuts to a blue screen and that is all you see for the remainder.  This was right after the commentary post.  I was expecting more documented proof of the comment.

I do not like him or his methods. He has no certifications and he is strong armed. I do not like seeing him kick dogs, or string up dogs, and if you google his bl;unders, they have resulted in the death of dogs. He is strictly an entertainer.

No.  I watched a different link in English which did not have the commentary at the end.  However, the main point of the link was to explain the 'roll' that Wanda was questioning. Was it worth listening to the rest of it?

Saying that he kicks dogs is an extreme exageration of the tap he uses to distract a dog.

I agree that there is a lot of editing for the sake of time, however he is more than entertaining for those that understand him.  Many so called trainers feel threatened by his success and thus lose the opportunity to learn something from him.

I did not start this post to say im with or against him, i do think he is an interesting person.............thx for the reply's all interesting, @ majorie, had no ideal, ill have to look some of that stuff up, @ blaineric.......i think the eva thin is a good point, though i feel a lil different about it........how many ppl especially americans, go buy guns without proper training, sports cars and can drive a honda, dogs and know nothing about them.......out off those doog ppl how many get sheltered because the dog runs over them.....not to totally defend him, but if a couple STRICT sessions with dog/owner/ and ceasar is what the doctor ordered to create a forever home out of the situation @ hand then..........BRAVOOOOOO

The comment was very unkind ( in the video) and made some clear accusations about the roll.  I was hoping to get supporting info on the accusation.

Ten ways to train a dog...they all work in right hands, they all are ineffective in wrong hands....his method works for him!   I have no problem with him.

If you think Ceasar Milan might get people injured trying to emulate his methods, have you seen Gator Boys?, American Hogger?, Here Comes Honey BooBoo? A lot of these shows make it seem like Wild animals are not dangerous. I mean any one can jump on the back of an angry gator, Grab a wild hog by the legs or deal with white trash kids....
I'm just hoping that people that see someone like Ceasar or Victoria Stilwell take the message and seek help.
Or get the red neck equilvant of  "Here hold my beer and watch this"
