I needn't watch any of these videos about Cesar Millan meastratment. I watch them on Tv several times to know he is a beast,  and I know that the videos were editates. I saw him several times kicks the ribs of the poor dogs. But people who call him to solve problems have not experience and  rely on the man who appear on TV. You can be an ignorant but not to earn a lot of money working on something you dont know, and what is worse by destroying dogs, cousing them to lose selfconfidence. It is my opinion acording I watched. But here you have more similars opinions and videos if you want to see them.

Classic CM smoke & mirrors:

Note that most of the "good" videos of what he really does are from foreign sources - his PR machine does a great job of getting youtube to remove the objectionable stuff. The "kicking" video has been posted and taken down in different incarnations tons of times...

*The RSPCA believes that using such techniques is unacceptable, nor are they necessary to change dog behaviour for the better when other dog trainers use reward-based methods to train dogs very effectively.’
*the American Humane Society, which condemned Millan's training methods as "inhumane, outdated and improper"

I like Cesar Milan.
All behavior problems between dog and a person are caused by their relationship between the two. Dog is a dog and person is a person. They either match or they do not match. Educated owner makes  the relationship  better by matching his treatment of the dog with the dog's responses based on dog's personality. Cesar Milan  is usually not dealing with preempting the problem, which would be  the best way not to  have a problem,  but with what to do after the problem arrives. He is very good at it and charismatic and so on and has excellent marketing scheme which all that got him rich which is OK.  The psychological principals of training  are nothing new . I am using them myself,  but I am as charismatic as wrecked train  and my marketing is also marginal, thus I am not millionaire.  Whish is also OK. But I have done the same thing what he does for decades. Fixing relationships between the dogs and people. I love it. But there is discouraging factor.
The methods work as long as people use them. However the problem is stemming from the personality of the person and you can not change those that much in a person older then 12 years.  Dogs get "rehabilitated" ( fixed)  when trainer is showing up but  when that ends the people tend to slip into their own patterns based on their personality and dogs personality then responds the same way as before  the training started and problems reemerges. It is a frustrating reality of the issue. I would really like to talk to people after 2-3 years of the training with Cesar Milan. It would be interesting to see how long  the correction lasted.

@ joanaro y not tell them that he works with problem dogs that have had issues for years, not pups, his techmique doesnt always apply, u need to know the difference, still watch ceasar, but theres a lot you dont know ............dont just go home and do what u saw him do, it may not apply

by Nans gsd on 20 February 2013 - 17:02

I say kudo's for helping the dogs that he can help.  Sometimes I have watched his show where he tells people they have the wrong dog, personally I like that and he tries to get the right dog for them.  No person is going to be 100% liked in dog training methods;  just appreciate that he is helping some dogs get rehomed and trained.  Nan

1.how do alpha dogs correct in a pack.......they nip
2.when did we fprget that a dog is way stronger than you, with fur and much thicker skin
3.if an dog nipped u in a corrective way it would hurt NOT THE SAME IN REVERSE
4.when did a nudge to get your attention become a kick

put a pronge collar around your neck, and let your friend pop it then u will realize your dog can take way more than you with no issues

I SAW NO KICKS IN THE ABOVE VIDEO.........The same ppl that did probably dont disipline their kids then when their ids shoot up a school cause they never got an ass whoopin as a kid when they needed one NOW U WANNA SNATCH EVERYONE'S GUN

DONT BEAT YOUR DOG< OR YOUR CHILD BUT BY ALL MEANS RAISE IT, and sometimes you need to get their attention

JUST MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE "KICK"

by joanro on 20 February 2013 - 18:02

Mario, it's not my place to outline Ceasars premise. That would be for him to do. As far as I have seen, his only disclaimer is , do not attempt this without a professional. People see what he does as all inclusive, unfortunately. Some one wants a pup for personal protection or sport and they do all the 'calm/submissive' stuff they hear him preach. Then after the dog is grown, they wonder why their dog isn't assertive under pressure. The show (dog whisperer) is nothing more than an infomercial, in my opinion. Is Caesar likable? Absolutely. Is he entertaining? Sure. Is he some one that people should take to the bank concerning dealing with their own dog? Not necessarily. If a person has a screwed up dog and it's because of a lack of knowledge, they sure don't need to learn to fix the problems watching a TV show. Take Ceasar Milan for what he is....an entertainer on TV.
BTW, people should not watch Milan as someone to emulate any more than watching PBR to learn to be a bull rider.

Well-known CAT OWNER Alan Titchmarsh might at least have allowed
Cesar to finish a sentence during that videoed interview  !!!  B. awful TV
journalism, reminiscent of the run up to General Elections.
